Unfortunately we are entering another lockdown in Melbourne.

⚠️ But this time the Victoria government regulations allow HAMMRR Sports Performance members who qualify as high performance athletes to train in our gym during lockdown (high performance training facility)

If you are an athlete , send us a message to know if you can train at HAMMRR Sports Performance during the lockdown and keep working on your performance and health 💪

Lockdown Workout B 👀

Take this opportunity to come back stronger than ever after this lockdown

Here is a great workout to do to maintain your explosiveness and strength 🏋️

1. Sprint max speed 30m

Walk back + 90sec rest and sprint again
x3 round

2. Broad jump X5 (max distance)
Walk back + 60 sec rest and jump again

3A. Squat : x12-15
(Can add a backpack full of book to add some weight )
3B. Chinup : X 5-10
(If too hard just jump and just control and slow the way down 3 sec and repeat)

X3 round

4A. Single Leg RDL : x8-12
4B. Triceps dips : x8-15

X3 round

🏋️Sports performance training (or Athletic Performance Training) is training of the body and mind to prepare the athlete for the rigors of a specific sport.

👉It differs from personal training in that the athlete is conditioned and prepared properly to compete in their sport of choice, rather than broader general fitness.

📊 Individual characteristics such as age, gender, and fitness level are combined with scientifically proven training methods and exercises to create a customized, sports specific workout plan that results in a more confident, robust and better athlete.

How you interact with the ground is probably the single most important aspect of athleticism for the sole reason that to produce movement, you need something rigid to produce force against. ⁣

If that interaction is weak or unstable, power production is dampened. ⁣

In the case of a sport like powerlifting, demands of the calf complex and achilles are much less. Foot strength is still highly necessary for creating stability from the ground.⁣

However, for a team sport athlete or sprinter,⁣

If you can squat 500lbs, but you struggle to:⁣

- Maintain your arch when you sprint (plant)⁣
- Stabilize the ankle medially/laterally ⁣
- Create stiffness in your calf to effectively utilize your achilles tendon (and prevent excessive dorsiflexion while planting)⁣
⁣. your squat doesn’t mean much.⁣

Odds are you've seen the proverbial "stress bucket" before. While it has its own ✅pro's / cons❌ in describing stress and how it can accumulate as well as be managed, we thought it could bring up a good discussion point 🗣
While things like form and load are important and may influence injury risk, we must consider that there are ❗️MANY, MANY (more than what we even covered) factors that go into both chronic and acute injuries. Our goal should be to address what we can, and allow training and recovery assist in in ⬆️ increasing the "capacity" for your bucket to hold more stress over the course of MANY years.⁣
