Do you put snacks, for YOU, on your menu plan or shop list??

Snacks are a non-negotiable part of my days. They help;
✅ fuel my body and brain
✅ aid recovery
✅ provide little pockets of joy

Hence why I include them in our meal plan and put them on our shopping list — because when snack options are easy to grab, I’m a much happier and a significantly less (h)angry human

What guides my snack choices:
✅ aim for two food groups
✅ aim to satisfy, not tease
✅ keep it simple - convenience is important
✅ consider which food groups or nutrients I need more of (protein, fibre, dairy, fruit, veggies) and build from there

10 snack ideas:
🔹 fruit + nut/seed bar
🔹 Vita-Weat crackers + tuna + sliced cheese
🔹 Vita-Weat crackers + cottage cheese + avocado + tomato + Mingle Seasoning
🔹 veggie sticks + hummus
🔹 quick oats + banana
🔹 chickpeas + pretzels + fruit
🔹 popcorn + veggie sticks
🔹 Weetbix + milk + fruit + honey
🔹 wholegrain bread + peanut butter + banana
🔹 Yopro
✨ Special mention to my fav chocolate and my fav biscuits that also make the shopping list and are included in any/all of the above combos when I feel like them

Drop your favourite easy snack below — I’m always adding to the list 👇

Fitness was never the whole point.

I’ve watched nervous “I’ve-never-been-into-fitness” women turn into women who genuinely look forward to their weekly workouts — and that’s the bit that has a huge ripple effect throughout their wider world.

It usually starts the same way. Scared they might die in the cardio round, or pull up so sore they can’t walk for days.

But then, the “I’m going to die” becomes “okay, I’m not going to die — I can actually do hard things.” And eventually, without even noticing the moment it changed, it becomes “I feel so good after that.”

That progression isn’t just about fitness. It’s about what a woman learning what she’s actually capable of.

She starts picking up the heavier weight. Signing up to the high intensity cardio class. Trying her hand at our boxing workouts. And Saying yes to things she would have quietly talked herself out of before (like weekend hikes, learning to surf, jumping in the ocean on a family holiday, fun runs and more).

And that version of herself — the one who knows her strength, and backs herself — doesn’t stay in the gym. She walks back out into her life.

The fitness and strength gains are real.
But that’s not the only reason we do this. 💪

Sounds pretty accurate I reckon 😂

NB: I am currently in my ‘don’t-take-this-social-media-thing-too-seriously’ era, hence you’ll likely find more LOLs than useful health content on here for a wee while

I did the maths. And it ain’t mathing.
So I thought I’d take this opportunity to remind you that capacity matters.

Capacity is how much you can genuinely hold at any given time. And in midlife, it can shift constantly. Your hormones, your sleep, your mental load, your work load, your care giver load — all of it affects what you have to give. Some weeks that’s a lot. Some weeks it’s barely there.

The fitness and wellness world is notoriously bad at accounting for this. Most programs are built on the assumption that you show up the same every time — that consistency means identical effort, and anything less is a lack of discipline. It’s not. It’s just reality being ignored.

At SAY YES, we read the room. We modify. We adjust. If your body’s running on three hours of sleep and a week of stress causing nagging neck pains - We work with that.

You focus on getting through our door.
We’ll handle the rest. 💛

What does your capacity feel like heading into this week? Drop an emoji (or two) below 👇

LOL.
I joke.
My body needs carbs.
My soul loves coffee.

Annndddd I’m not interested in demonising foods, restricting foods (unless medically necessary), treating weight loss and thinness as a prerequisite for my health - or my worth.

Strength and fitness can make it easier to:
💪🏼lift and carry kids
💪🏼run after kids without feeling winded
💪🏼 get down on the ground and play with kids
💪🏼 haul the butt tonne of kid things in and out of the car with ease (ie. Bikes, scooters, car seats, strollers)
💪🏼 say yes to active adventures on weekends and family holidays

When I was a NEW mum I found my strength and fitness seriously helped me to;
❤️ Babywear for long walks or errands without pain or weakness
❤️ Breast/Bottle feed standing up with no elbow support
❤️ Hold my baby for extended periods of time when he wasn’t feeling well
Fitness can also make it easier to keep up with the physical demands of Mumlife whilst managing an injury... I literally can not imagine dealing with 2023s knee rehab + work life + mum life, without fitness and strength.

My point is: being a Mum is TOUGH.

But SAYING YES to yourself and your health and fitness can make it EASIER.
