🔙 Throwback Thursday 🔙

Today we look back to Saturday 7th March 2026, when Peter Eagles celebrated a significant milestone, taking the field for the 3rd XI in his 200th match for Bayswater Park Cricket Club.

Peter marked the occasion in style, producing a standout performance with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 3/23 from 7 overs to be the best bowler on the day.

One of the most memorable moments of the match was seeing Peter and his son Ashton take the field together, creating a special family memory that will be treasured for years to come.

Peter's contribution to Bayswater Park extends far beyond his performances on the field. Over many years he has been a dedicated club person, helping to organise social events, coaching our junior players, leading the 2nd XI as Captain, and most recently stepping up as Vice President of the club.

Congratulations again Peter on reaching 200 games. Your commitment, leadership and passion for the club continue to make a lasting impact both on and off the field. 🦈🏏

Congratulations to Melanie Causer on being awarded Life Membership of Bayswater Park Cricket Club!

For ten consecutive seasons, from 2012/13 through to 2021/22, Mel served as Club Secretary, a demanding executive role that sits at the heart of any successful sporting club. Her decade of service demonstrated an unwavering commitment to BPCC and provided the stability, organisation, and leadership that helped the club thrive both on and off the field.

Throughout her tenure, Mel played a pivotal role in modernising the club's operations. She successfully led the transition from paper-based record keeping to online systems, ensuring greater efficiency, accessibility, and preservation of important club records for future generations.

Beyond her official duties, Mel consistently went above and beyond for the club. Whether assisting at social functions, capturing countless memories as the club photographer, or ensuring administrative tasks were completed accurately and on time, she was always willing to contribute wherever needed.

Those who worked alongside Mel know her as someone who was dependable, proactive, and deeply invested in the success of the club. Her professionalism and dedication created a strong foundation that continues to benefit Bayswater Park Cricket Club today.

Congratulations to Sarah Smith on being awarded Life Membership of Bayswater Park Cricket Club!

For nearly two decades, Sarah has been a massive part of the Bayswater Park Cricket Club as a: player, captain, mentor, administrator, advocate, and leader. Her contribution has helped shape the culture, success, and future of our club both on and off the field.

Sarah's achievements are simply extraordinary:

🏏 243 Women's 1st XI matches
🏏 Over 9,100 career runs and 191 wickets
🏏 The first player in club history to surpass 9,000 runs
🏏 7 Premierships as Captain
🏏 9 Club Champion awards
🏏 6 Con Mac W Medals
🏏 14 consecutive Batting Awards

Beyond the statistics, Sarah has been on of the driving forces behind the growth of women's cricket at Bayswater Park. As Women's Coordinator, Vice President, committee member, coach, mentor and role model, she has created opportunities for countless players, championed equality, and helped establish pathways for future generations of female cricketers.

Her leadership has been instrumental in expanding the women's program, launching a second women's team, attracting international talent, securing the club's first paid women's coach, and raising the standard of women's cricket throughout the RDCA community.

Sarah's impact extends far beyond trophies and records. She has inspired teammates, supported young players, strengthened our club culture, and represented Bayswater Park with pride, integrity and passion every step of the way.

Life Membership is one of the highest honours our club can bestow, and Sarah is a truly deserving recipient.

At our recent AGM Jason Butcher handed over the role of President to Ralph Wellington.

The Club would like to thank both Jason and Sarah Butcher for their enormous contribution to Club over the last few seasons.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Doug Beaton’s passing. Doug's family invite all who knew and loved Doug to join them in honoring his memory.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5th at 4:00 PM at Heritage Funerals in Wantirna. Prior to the service, there will be a viewing and a special opportunity to sign the coffin lid as a final tribute to Doug’s life.

Following the service, refreshments will be served at the Wantirna Hill Club, where we can come together to share stories and support one another.

For those unable to attend in person, a live stream of the service will be available. The link can be found on the Heritage Funerals website.

Doug touched many lives with his kindness and humor, and while we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the wonderful memories he leaves behind. Thank you all for your love and support during this difficult time.

Today, the Bayswater Park Cricket Club mourns the passing of Life Member Doug Beaton.

Doug’s contribution to our club stretched across many years through his dedication as a committee member, respected leader, and former captain of our 3rd XI. His impact on Bayswater Park will long be remembered, not only through the friendships he built and the time he gave so generously, but also through the legacy he leaves behind within our club culture.

In 2025, it was a proud moment for our club to honour Doug by naming the 3rd XI Best & Fairest Award in his recognition, a fitting tribute to someone who gave so much to Bayswater Park Cricket Club.

On behalf of everyone at BPCC, we extend our deepest condolences to Michelle, Steve, Bruce, Braden, Andy and the entire Beaton family during this incredibly difficult time.

Thank you Doug, for your service, friendship and commitment to the Sharks.

You will always be part of our club. 💙💛
