Planned hazard reduction burns will be causing poor air quality across Sydney and parts of NSW in the coming days. This is an important part of reducing the risk for bush fire season, while conditions are suitable.
Tips to stay safe:
✔️ Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke from entering your home
✔️ Avoid vigorous outdoor activity when it’s smoky (especially in the morning when the smoke is expected to be worse)
✔️ Ensure pets have a protected area
✔️ If you’re driving through a smoky area, slow down, keep your windows up and turn your headlights on
✔️ If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice.
