🏐 Marley Aplin (graduate) selected in the 2026 National Under 19 Netball Squad

🏆 Henry Kross selected in the Australian Junior Men’s Team for the Under 19 World Junior Squash Championships in Canada

🚴‍♀️ Sophia Urquhart qualified to represent Australia at the 2026 UCI BMX Racing World Championships

✨2026 UAA Group insurance Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Talent ID Day✨

The annual WRAS Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Talent ID events were held last week in Orange at PCYC Orange and in Dubbo at Dubbo Christian School.
Across both days, 126 students from 18 schools came together to take part in a range of sporting stations, showcasing their skills across Golf, Netball, Rugby Union / Rugby League, Strength & Conditioning testing, and Basketball.

A huge thank you to the incredible coaches and volunteers who gave their time to support the days:

🏆Your Local Club Academy Games 2026 - wrap up🏆

Triathlon
Congratulations to athletes Emily, Tilly and Max representing WRAS at this years Academy Games. Top 10 results include
Emily: 🥈overall girls final and 🥇 in both heats on Saturday
Max: 10th individual heat 3, 8th individual heat 5
Thank you to coach Tristan 👏 for your ongoing support and development to the WRAS triathlon crew over the weekend and the course of the program. Thank you NSW Triathlon for supporting the event and program.

Netball
WRAS were represented across both Div 1 and 2 categories and by umpires Caitlin, Matilda and Emily.
Div 1: 5th place (pool A)
Div 2: 🥇defeating Sydney Metro Academy (yellow) in the grand final
MVPs: Hannah Hayes (Div 1) and Eliza Strahorn (Div 2)

WRAS were represented by both boys and girls squads (excluding athletes away representing NSW at U16 Nationals). Both squads competed in Division 2 for the weekend.
Girls: 🥇8-0 against North Coast (girls remained undefeated across the weekend)
Boys: 🥈defeating Hunter Academy

Golf
Congratulations to athletes Rory, Louis, Nate, Archie and Hunter representing WRAS over the 3 day event. Top 10 results include

Hunter: 9th nett boys
WRAS Team: Division 2 winner against WSAS 3-2

Girls: 4th overall going down in the bronze medal match against Hunter in a close match until the final minutes

⛳️🏆 Rory takes out Peter O'Malley Junior Masters 🏆⛳️

Congratulations to WRAS local champion Rory Elphick on winning the 2026 Peter O'Malley Junior Masters Tournament over the weekend in Bathurst. Rory was crowned the Boys champion after shooting an impressive 135 after the 2 rounds.

Congratulations to WRAS golfers Archie Quirk and Louis Simpson on their impressive top 10 performances. Louis won the Boys 14-15yrs nett category whilst Archie placed T8 in the Boys 16&over nett category.
