🔥 Panorama Drone Racing – Round 3 Recap (2026) 🔥

What a weekend! 🚁💨 Round 3 of the 2026 season brought the heat with a great mix of familiar faces and some exciting new talent joining the grid.

We ran both Joe Spec and ProSpec classes, and the racing was tight across the board 👀

🏆 A Grade Highlights
Our club President took out the top spot, but the real story was the showdown between Whitephos and Tumblebee. Going into the final race, they were dead even on points… and somehow crossed the line with the exact same time 🤯
After a slow-motion replay, it was confirmed — Whitephos held on by the tiniest margin. Easily one of the closest finishes we’ve ever seen!

🥈 B Grade Standouts
Big shoutout to newcomers Precious and TommyBaker who both showed serious skill in their debut!

- Precious flew consistently all day to take the win 🥇
- TommyBaker followed closely in second 🥈
These two are definitely ones to watch 👀

⚡ ProSpec Results
Mirroring A Grade, the podium finished:

1. MacDaddy 🥇
2. Whitephos 🥈
3. Tumblebee 🥉

Committee Roles Open for Nominations We’re currently accepting nominations for the following committee positions. If you or someone you know is interested, please reach out!

1. President Role: Leads the committee, sets the agenda, facilitates meetings, and ensures decisions are acted on.
Responsibilities:
Preside over meetings
Represent the committee publicly
Liaise with external bodies or higher leadership

2. Treasurer Role: Manages the committee’s finances.
Responsibilities:
Track income and expenses
Prepare budgets and financial reports
Ensure financial compliance and transparency

3. Secretary Role: Handles administrative tasks and meeting documentation. Responsibilities:
Take and distribute meeting minutes
Organize records and communications
Notify members of meetings and decisions

Our July event may have been rained out, but the fun didn’t stop!
Thanks to access to a dry indoor hall, we were still able to fly our sub-50g "whoops" and enjoy the day.

We were stoked to welcome a great group of new pilots, including six students from Kelso High Campus - Denison College’s STEM elective, where they’re learning to build and fly FPV drones.

Big thanks to everyone who came along and helped turn a gloomy day into an awesome one!

Our Aeronautical Engineering unit wrapped up an exciting VelociDrone competition last week, and the results are in!

🥇 1st Place: Ben (Year 10)

🥉 3rd Place: Kai (Year 10)
🏅 4th Place: Blake (Year 10)

Our club captain Will Maloney aka Whitephos has made a really handy how to video.

This Video is on how to update your drone to Betaflight to the current version and install Racepro. This feature enables RPM limiting for the upcoming Panorama Drone Racing - Spec Race Round 1.

Please remember if you are you are a beginner or just want to come and check it out, this is not needed for beginners. We will have a simulator there on the day if you are intrested come have a chat and have a go.

How to install RacePro on Betaflight for beginners. Useful for someone who wants to use RPM limiting in the OSD quick menu.
