Our Teacher & Coach Spotlight series continues! πββοΈ
This week, weβre shining the spotlight on Deborah, one of our valued swimming teachers.
Deb has been teaching swimming for around 4 years and says one of the things she enjoys most about the role is watching her students grow in confidence in the water each week. She also loves the fun, challenges and great energy that come with teaching swimming.
A big focus for Deb is helping swimmers develop skills that are appropriate for their age and stage of learning. With our babies and parents, she focuses on building water confidence, while with older children she works on independent mobility and stroke foundations.
One of Debβs favourite moments as a swim teacher is seeing a swimmer achieve something theyβve been working towards and witnessing the excitement they feel when they realise they can do it.
If youβve been in one of Debβs lessons, youβve probably heard her encouraging swimmers with:
π βGood job!β
π βGreat swimming!β
When asked what keeps her coming back to our swim school, Deb highlighted something at the heart of everything we do:
βI am teaching a life skill which they will use for the rest of their lives, whilst building their confidence and a trusting relationship with them.β
We love that philosophy, Deb. π Teaching children to swim is about so much more than learning strokes, itβs about developing confidence, independence and an important life skill that can stay with them for years to come.
Thank you, Deb, for the care, encouragement and positive energy you bring to our swimmers and our swim school team! πββοΈπ
