Big night for the Kilcunda Bass Cricket Club crew as a group of the boys headed across to MDU for the LDCA League Presentation Night, and we didn’t come home empty handed!

A massive result for the club, taking home:

Individual honours as well:
🏏 Matt Grayson – A2 Team of the Year & A2 Batting Average (59.0)
🏏 Ray Gardiner – B2 Team of the Year

It was a grand final that had everything.

After slumping to 5/43 in the 21st over, the team showed incredible resilience to fight their way back into the contest. In tough batting conditions, Matt steadied the innings with a valuable 24, before Ash dug in and faced 120 balls for a determined 25. A quick-fire 14 from Ryan helped push the total to 111 — a score that felt competitive given the circumstances.

The bowlers knew it would take something special, and Cam delivered, leading the charge with an outstanding five-wicket haul before stumps on day one. Nyora finished the day at 5/79, setting up a thrilling second day with the game evenly poised.

Nyora came out firing, but the momentum shifted when the sixth wicket fell at 89. Another followed just 11 runs later, sparking a dramatic collapse as the bowlers ripped through the lineup, taking 4 wickets for 0 runs in a match-defining burst.

With Bass sent back in to bat, there was still work to do. After an early wicket to Nyora, Ben L and Jayden stood tall under pressure, combining for a composed partnership and batting through to secure a memorable grand final victory.

A well deserved Man of the Match to Cam Davidson with a huge 7 wicket haul!!!

One final note: while cricket is often shaped by individual performances, this team’s success came from something deeper—the way they showed up for each other, week after week, and played as one. Every player embraced the challenge in their own time, stepping up to “Be That Person!” when it mattered most.
