Today my heart is absolutely bursting with pride as I reflect on our Under 10 Boys and Under 12 Girls Touch Football Teams competing at the Northern Eagles Championships on the weekend.

Watching these young kids step onto the field with courage, determination, and true team spirit was incredibly special. They represented our club with dignity, honesty, good sportsmanship and respect. We had so many positive comments come our way. Win or lose, they showed what it truly means to be a part of Barraba Junior Touch Football.

I want to extend my deepest thanks to our incredible community of parents. From social touch afternoons and organisation to training sessions, food preparation, tent atmosphere, beach session, team dinners, sideline cheers, endless encouragement, and unwavering support, make moments like this possible. You are the backbone of our club, and our players thrive because of the environment you help create. Filled with positivity, commitment and heart.

Thank you for believing in our kids, in our teams, and in the values we stand for. Together, we are building something truly special.

⭐️ BARRABA KIDS COMMENDED AS JUNIOR TOUCH WRAPS UP SEASON ⭐️

Our u10 boys and u12 girls have done us proud over the weekend at the Northern Eagles Junior Champs at Coffs Harbour, playing some very promising touch football against older, well-drilled opponents from across Northern NSW.

Although neither team came away with a win, there was a great deal of praise for our Barraba kids’ tenacity, positivity and general conduct over the tournament.

Each player has also shown great improvement in their game, positioning and teamwork in recent months - with some strong sequences of play at Coffs a thrill to watch.

🏃🏽The boys played against Macksville, Taree and Tamworth (twice); they were coached by Bindy Abell, and supported by Katie Shadbolt and Jimmy Hardaker.

🏃🏼‍♀️The girls played against Taree, Gunnedah, Coffs Harbour and Grafton; they were coached by Cint Russell, and supported by Penny Hands.

🐡 Both Bindy and Cint pulled on the referee kit a few times over the weekend, too. Along with Ben Abell, we wish to thank them for their efforts officiating on behalf of our association.

With some great food and beach time thrown in, it was a fun weekend away for players and supporters alike.

The Northern Eagles Junior Champs marks a wrap on our 2025/26 season for Barraba Junior Touch. We are grateful for the ongoing support of local families, friends and sponsors 👏👏👏

👏THANKS ALL FOR A GREAT TERM OF TOUCH FOOTY👏

Congratulations to all of our junior players on another great season for the Wednesday competition. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves for what was an energising and competitive few weeks of games!

A big thank you to official referees Cint and Trent, and to the amazing crew of juniors who did an outstanding job supporting the competition this year - thank you for your efforts to guide the younger players and ensure the older age groups ran fairly and in good spirits - well done to Shae, Gus, Xavier, Leo, Brax, Nevaeh, Hugh, Parker, Lachie and Kade.

Thank you to the parents who kindly took on a team as Coach; keeping the vibes high and the subs rolling - Katie, Rach, Kirrily, Courtney, Charlie, Cint, Ebony, Bec, Alison, Ash, Penny, Cath and Marnie.

Thank you to Ben Abell for being across the field markings each and every week… the kids seem to wear that red dye on their knees with pride! This is a job done without fuss and we appreciate that very much.

From the groundsman, right on up to the top brass we thank President Bindy Abell for her passion in supporting our kids to have a red hot crack at touch, build their skills and have a bit of fun as they do it. You work so hard to make this happen and we applaud you for it.

We are also extremely grateful for the ongoing support of all our families and friends, sponsors and supporters of Barraba Junior Touch Football.

THIS AFTERNOON saw some very tight games in the finals, and we congratulate the 🐽 Blue Whales, 🔵 Yellow Bees and the 🟡 Red Wrens on their Grand Final wins.

We congratulate players who received Best & Fairest, Encouragment, and Player of the Final awards. All of our juniors are encouraged to keep it up, as we notice their confidence, the improvement and the teamwork growing over the playing weeks.

Our thanks to Trent & Lanie Hartwig for lending us their BBQ, and carting it to the grounds for us. And we hope the kids enjoyed their end of season treats on us - thank you Charlie Whyte 👏
