Vet med is beautiful, but it can also be brutal.

The pressure. The perfectionism. The imposter syndrome. The compassion fatigue. The constant feeling that you should know more, do more, be more.

Being surrounded by incredibly talented people while quietly questioning whether you’re good enough to stand beside them.

I think a lot of us carry that feeling. We become our own harshest critics long before anyone else gets the chance.

But lately, I’ve been trying to look at myself the way I look at my coworkers and friends.
With kindness. With pride. With patience for the growth that isn’t always obvious day to day.

One of my favourite things about this industry is watching people grow into themselves. Watching nervous new nurses become confident. Watching people who doubted themselves become the person others rely on. And maybe that applies to me too.

I’m still learning. Still healing. Still figuring things out.
But I’m also still here.
Still showing up.
Still caring deeply.
Still finding meaning in this work.
And overall, I am proud of the nurse I am, and the nurse I am yet to become.

Make sure you take a moment to remember how valuable you are, because I am so grateful you’re here. 🤍

Here are 3 ways to medicate your cat that can make things a little easier at home:

🐾 Treat Method – Hide tablets inside a tasty treat. I chose churros-style treats from Woolworths with a firmer outside and soft centre, making them perfect for concealing tablets.

🐾 Manual Tableting – For confident owners, placing the tablet directly can be the quickest option. Always be gentle and reward afterwards.

🐾 Liquid Medication – Compounded liquid medications can be a great alternative for cats who refuse tablets.

Every cat is different, so sometimes it takes trial and error to find what works best! Always follow your vet’s directions and reach out if you’re having trouble medicating at home.
