Pedal Prix round 4 at Victoria Park took place over the weekend and once again it was a great day with beautiful weather, making for a great race experience. Victory Mk 2 started 28th on the grid and in our category, with our mentor and constant supporter Jason Rosenzweig taking to the track for the first time. We are happy to announce that with a fastest lap of 2:03 he managed to do a faster lap time than most of his students. We were thankful to Joseph Prior for filling in for us at the last minute completing 14 laps and getting the fastest lap time of 1:42.

Unfortunately, we had our first incident of the year with a roll over on crash corner which has provided a few battle scars for our new vehicle. The crash only damaged the paintwork thankfully so it didn’t impede our ability to finish the race, with Geredd completing an extra lap due to his fantastic pushing on the second to last lap.

The team managed to complete 172 laps finishing 21st in our category and 28th overall. We would like to thank Tim for being team manager, all family and friends for the food and the support given, plus a big thankyou to our guest rider Mr Rosenzweig.

Also a shout out to Cain Greer who came to support the team on the day.

Round 3 Victoria park
Saturday the 15th of June marked our 2nd race for 2019. We competed in the 6-hour race located at Victoria park in Adelaide. It was a good day with great weather for most of the day. Victory’s own MK II elite trump trike proved to be brilliant on the track completing the entire race without any drama.

6 hours
202 laps
226.644 km
20th in open category
26th overall
1:27.999 fastest lap

We were lucky enough to have Damien Jenke and Cain Greer riding with us this round. Both were valuable assets to the line-up. The rest of the team consisted of Geredd Hayes, Samuel Lecons, Samuel Prior and Daniel Grosser.

We were very happy with the outcome of the race. We began at grid position 26 and finished the race 26th overall. We weren’t involved in any crashes which was pleasing. Most importantly it was an enjoyable day.

Thanks to all the people who came to support us throughout the race.

This race also saw the first appearance of a new team Mad Dog racing with a few familiar riders including one of our previous racers Patrick Prior. It was good to see them on the track. We were in a very similar position last year and wish them the best of luck in the future.

The next goal is to prepare ourselves and the trike for one more round at Victoria park before we start getting ready for the almighty 24-hour race in Murry Bridge later this year.

As you maybe aware we have had the privilege of purchasing a ‘new’ trike last year, so I thought it would be good to reflect on our old trike and how we transitioned to the new one.
The original three stooges, (Sam Lecons, Geredd Hayes, Sam Prior) first saw this 10-year-old Trilsed trike for sale, when we were beginning our search for trikes in 2017, at an amount that we could afford. We could barely contain our excitement as the three of us crammed into Sam Prior’s ute, as we drove to down to have our first glance at our prospective race vehicle. Our first impressions were mixed, it would need some work, but the value for money with the spare parts included made it a genuine option for purchase. After some discussion we agreed on a price, paid and came home with a trike we could call ours.
Due to the fact it was previously a primary school car we had to do some major modification, Geredd our trusty engineer started designing how we could begin to transform this trike. The Sam’s focused on demolition work and fibre glassing the trike. After much welding cursing, more welding, designing and mounting we finally had a trike that we could race affectively . With Daniel Grosser joining the team and a few last-minute adjustments we were able to race Loxton and the two Victoria Park races in 2018.
Now we had a problem, after all our hard work the trike was still to small for our tallest rider Daniel Grosser, so in the best interest of the team we set out to acquire a new racing vehicle. With the help of major sponsorship from Road Map to Fitness and Hamilton Harvest we as a team had a larger budget to work with as we began our second search for a new trike. This enabled us to purchase a Trump Trike raced in 2018 by the Trump Trike Racing team. After much work we now had the trike of our dreams, never believing that we would have this opportunity we thank our sponsors and all those who have helped and believed in us over the journey.

Victory is where we want to be
Victory is Christ living in me,

Victory was won on a wooden cross
Where God showed death, who is boss,

Victory is living the way God calls me too
Victory is doing what Christ wants me do,

Well all can share in this great prize
Celebrate and fight, together we rise,

Victory is in a crown of thorns
In a bloody face and body torn,

So that we may share victory with him
No matter what position we are in.
