Quick little trip up to Lake William Hovell the other day. No reddies big enough to worry about taking a photo. But still catching small ones in the trees in the river arm almost every cast is still a lot of fun. Hopefully the big ones will come and play next time.

Been a long time since I’ve posted anything. Finally was able to get out on the bike for a ride and this little fella thought the Great Ocean Road was a good place to take a rest. After a little scratch on the head he was happy to move off the road.
Looking forward to getting back up to the Murray and getting a chance to test a few timber lures I’ve been playing around with.

Some days it’s just great to be out on the water not throwing lures. When the old man comes fishing these days it’s usually bait fishing time. The bites were very small, like little trout cod. But then he snagged this 57cm cod.

Decided to finally give Melton reservoir a go. Was not disappointed getting this fat little (high 50’s maybe low 60’s) model on a spinnerbait. Fair to say I’ll be coming back to play here again.
Thanks go out to Victorian fisheries authority for sticking this place with Murray cod.

Hooked up with some new toys for a solo trip to mulwala. He boated some nice fish over a few days with a new colour “Not Sure” getting it done.

juniors, for this months lures you get to choose one of the spinnerbaits and one of the sw***ers.
So leave a message voting for either the orange blade or willow blade spinnerbait and either the large blade or small blade sw***er. The spinnerbait and sw***er with the most comments will be what all the junior will get at the competition presentation. That’s right this months every junior will get 2 lures just for fishing in the comp and attending the presentation.
Note: the soft plastic on the sw***er is not included I just added it to show that it can be added to make the lure weedless and less likely to snag up.

The sw***ers are something new and can be used as a chatterbait or as a swing tail jig by removing the blade.

Good luck to all the juniors in the comp, hopefully a few of you can show the old people how to catch some big fish.

Morning out bait fishing with the old man. He was pretty smug with a small carp and silver perch. Then the trusty carp rod, tackle rat, found this 68cm mud marlin. After about 10min including some time in the snags it found the brag mat and the rolling pin.

Finally got a chance to get out to chase some cod (even if it was only with bait due to having the old tin arse with me). We both opened our accounts for the year but the chocolates went to the old guy again with this nice 49cm fish.

With everything flooded I figured I may as well just hit up the local pond to see if soaking some corn Kernels will get me a carp or two. If not getting some sunshine and listening to frogs is still a good way to spend an afternoon

With the river, where I fish, about to close down for fishing for the next 3 months I guess I have to head up to Lake Mulwala / Ovens river to chase some yellas. But with sunsets like this I guess that not really a big problem
