Country Program Tumut & Batlow
April 2019
A team of ex-bush boys (Ken, Vince, Ron & Norm) ventured to Tumut Golf Club & Batlow Golf Club to continue a golf program that began in 2005.
In the Kennards sponsored vehicle were 73 golf sets, 73 golf bags and approximately 5,000 golf balls.
Assisting with coaching were six Georges River Junior members as well as Neil Bye (PGA Member) & Geoff Brain (Tumut Golf Club President)
Our host at Batlow Golf Club was Kevin Nolte who manages the local junior golfers.
The majority of the equipment was donated by Concord Golf Club members. The golf clubs were all cut to size and re-gripped with new grips supplied by Golf Imports.
Twenty five brand new bags were purchased for the local juniors who did not already own golf equipment.
Thanks to Norm Buckley (Mo) and Roadies Vince Curran (Larry) & Ron Cooper (Curly) for the 16,000 km's they have driven in the Kennards Truck.
Alf Di Monte for assiting with re-gripping over 600 sets of golf clubs
Georges River Juniors Aiden James, Lachlan Jones, Ky Rodoreda, Emily Leong and Kayun Mudadana for the fantastic coaching job at the Batlow & Tumut golf clinics.
Parents Will & Jenny Leong as well as Peter Jones for assisting with the April trip.
Golf NSW for a financial grant.
Financial Supporters Alan Whelpton, Len Bleasel, Stephen Sykes, Tony Moody and Michael Siddle.
Many of Australias great sportsmen and sportswomen are country bred. Sowing the seed of opportunity could lead to a bright future for some.
