Super proud is an understatement.
I still remember coaching this guy as an eight-year-old at our 5Sports holiday camps. Watching his journey through the JDL system, coaching him in his first SSF season where he bagged six goals against Macarthur Rams, and then seeing him grow—not just as a footballer, but as a young man—has been incredibly rewarding.
I’ve had the privilege of seeing him evolve from a student-athlete, to a family friend, to a Prodigy FC coach, while continuing to develop as a player. One of the moments that really put everything into perspective was in 2026, when I lined up against him in First Grade as Hurstville Zagreb took on Rockdale City Suns. To go from coaching him as a kid to competing against him at senior level is something I’ll never forget.
Now he’s taking another huge step, heading to the United States to pursue both football and a university degree at a prestigious college.
People often see “America” and think only about the football opportunity, but what they don’t see is the courage it takes to leave your family, your friends, and everything you’ve ever known behind to chase a dream. That takes real character.
I have no doubt he’ll make the most of every opportunity. He’ll work relentlessly, represent himself with pride, continue pushing his football to the highest level possible, and at the same time earn a degree that will set him up for life beyond the game. Education and football go hand in hand, and having both opens so many doors for the future.
Mate, thank you for trusting Prodigy FC throughout your journey. Thank you for your friendship, your loyalty, and for giving back by coaching the next generation of players. Your journey is proof that with hard work, commitment, and the right environment, there is a genuine pathway for young footballers.
