First episode of whale logs covering some of my top encounters for the season in Tonga is up on my YouTube.

This one was about my 2nd day back in the water and coming across some rare behavior not once but twice back to back.

Guess it was a matter of time .the.taxman

Figured since I hadn't seen any around the reef the past few days I would opt to not drag the kayak behind me to stash my catch and just go with the float (MISTAKE!)

50 metres from shore a sneaky whitetip decided my dinner was now his.

Unique in every way

Humpback whales have many identifying features for spotting individuals but the tail stands out as something for those viewing above and below. Each mark, blob, line or scratch tells a story.

Been a fun season in the Haapai Tonga region with
Gathering up a bunch of tail shots.

Groups such as the Tongan fluke collective spend their time gathering photos from traveller's and guides to document and ID the whales each season as they move around the islands of Tonga. This can then be matched with the Antarctic research teams and get a broader picture of health and movements of an individual humpback between seasons.

Finally made it out to uoeleva island, caught up with the team, settled in and started working on weaving some walls for my shower.

Definitely something very special about chilling out and watching 6 different pods of humpbacks playing in the afternoon right out front. Will be hitting the water later today to go say hi to a few of them.

Bit of Friday fun giving some training and technique advice to and getting them ready for upcoming Parasurfing competitions abroad.

Lots of arm only no fins and exhale holds to help simulate the hold down experience developing a stronger resilience to the high adrenaline of the surf.

Cheers for the invite to come host a session.

Had a great time yesterday evening running the breathing for Surf panel at Sydney. Over nearly 2 hours we had a discussion about the benefits of training your breath hold, what to target specific to training and how to optimize your recovery to increase safety and speed.

We had an awesome panel with , , and sharing their insights into training for the absolute worst the ocean can throw at you as well as sharing some of the craziest storys of charging some absolute monster waves. Was truly a privilege to have them on board.

Keep an eye out for our July dates as there will be surf survival courses and training happening almost every week across winter in sydney
