Launched in Oatley in 2018, Steady, Stable and Able classes are designed to provide strength and balance exercises for people of all abilities.
Kate DeMayo, who started the program at Oatley Uniting Church, says she saw a need for classes with a strong focus on balance that could be held in community venues without much equipment.
"There is constantly mounting evidence that shows older adults, in particular, can improve their balance by practicing specific balance exercises. This can make an enormous difference to their quality of life, both by preventing falls and by improving their confidence."
The classes use minimal equipment, so they can be offered in church and community halls.
From its start in 2018 with one class, Steady Stable and Able classes are now offered in Sylvania, Kingsgrove, Penshurst, Bankstown and Jannali. Ring 0421 902 520 for more information.
