Qleague 2022 Grand Final result:-

Umoja FC 3 - 3 Brisbane Highlanders Football Club after Full time and extra time. 3 - 1 on penalties.

Brisbane Highlanders FC went down 3 - 1 on penalties after the tie was 3-3 after extra time. Tough luck for the boys who came back from 2-0 down to take 3-2 lead. However, Umoja FC scored an unfortunate goal 5 minutes to end of extra time to take the game onto penalties. The boys put on a gutsy display despite missing some key players especially in the midfield.

Umoja FC keeper was pumped up for the penalties and saved almost every spot kick thrown at him.

Well done to the boys who has done well to reach the final despite missing handful of players throughout the season through injuries and unavailability.

Well done to our keeper Anish Mishra who put on the Man of the Match performance denying the opponent with some classy commanding saves.

Well done to our verstile player Ramesh Parajuli who takes the award of player of the month award for September. He has been every present for the club throughout the season and proved to be one of the key players for the club.

It's been successful season overall given the circumstances faced with the boys just missing out on defending the championship.

Grand Final here we come!

Brisbane Highlanders Football Club beat IGC - newly crowned premier league winners 4-2 on penalties to get through to the 2nd Grand Final in a row. The game was tied at 0-0 over the 90 minutes and 30 minutes extra time. Both teams rode their luck at times but also created good chances to win it.

Our keeper Da Silva but centre back on the day due to him nursing a broken finger braved it to become the keeper during the shootout and went on to save the 2 penalties whilst all of our penalty takers kept their composer to convert their kicks.

Onto the the grand final this Sunday 2nd October 530pm kick off at Perry Park stadium against the boys from Congo - Umoja FC.

Please be there to cheer the boys on as we seek to defend the championship. Entrance is free.

League round of the 2022 Football Queensland Q-league concluded with Brisbane Highlanders FC finishing in the 4th position and qualify for the play off semi final round. Given the number of long term injuries and number of absentees of players for much of the season, the boys did well to finish the season on the 4th position.

The boys will now face the newly crowned League Premier winner IGC this Sunday which will prove to be a tough game with number of players still out injured. However, the boys are determined to give thier all out and make it to the grand final and retain the Championship.

Well done to Gurung who was awarded July player of the month and Shrestha who was awarded player of the month for August. Both the players have shown great determination and commitment to pull the team through with thier ever present gutsy display throughout the season.

Thanks Awesome Parmigiana Bar and Grill for the sponsoring the team again this year.

Brisbane Highlanders FC came out on top over Simrik FC on its return away tie by 2 goals to nil to make it a 4 wins in a row. The boys scored a goal in each half courtesy of our winger Mason Xmart.

The boys had to hold onto a narrow lead on the final 20 minutes with good defensive display. We managed to score second goal on the last minute of the added time to kill the game off.

Next game will be on Sunday against Naitia Phoneix at 3pm at Meakin Park.

After a blip of loosing 3 games in a row, Brisbane Highlanders FC came back to its winning ways by winning its last 2 games in style.

The boys took a revenge on the big physcial Umoja FC boys following the 3-2 away defeat on the previous tie by winning this home tie 2-1. Although Umoja huffed and puffed throughout the game, Highlanders keeper was never put to the real test throughout.

Highlanders was in control and took the 1-0 lead in the first half. The boys went on to score another goal in the second half and only missed penalty towards the end kept the Highlanders from taking 3 goals lead. Umoja FC managed to score one goal right on the final minute to make it 2-1 final score.

Well done Hartnett for winning player of the month for July

Thank you Awesome Parmigiana Bar and Grill - Anurodh Bhattarai for sponsoring us this season again.

Next game an away tie against Spainsih FC on the 7th August.

12/06/2022

Not a night for the Highlanders as we went down 2-3 away to Umoja FC which proved to be a tough challenge as expected. They could possibly turn out to be one of the toughest if not the toughest opponent Highlanders might face in this competition with its fast youthful aggressive play. It was particularly disappointing to loose all the points after going up 2-0. The game was played at a very high tempo throughout and few errors at the back let the opponent back in the game in the last 30 minutes. Still, Highlanders could have taken something from the game hitting the bar and requiring the opponent keeper to make few excellent saves in the second half.

Highlanders badly missed few of our key players tonight particularly in the midfield.

Well done to our centre back Borja Andreu for the excellent performance and wins the man of the match.

Next game will be our home game against Spainsh FC next Sunday the 19th June.

Thanks Awesome Parmigiana Bar and Grill for the sponsorship again this year.

After a frustrating more of stop then start preparation to the 2022 FQ Qleague season since January due to Covid and bad weather, the boys were relieved to get the first game of the season finally going.

The game at first half was 1-1 with Highlanders unable to put the ball past the West End Rebels FC goalkeeper. Few substitutes in the second half and direct play helped changed that with our boys going onto score 7 goals in the second half to win it 8-1.

Well done to our debut player Binaya Sharma who came on and helped the team play direct game which really unsettled the opponents defence.

It was an entertaining game and West End Rebels were much better then the score line suggests.

Although there were many star performances individually, man of match has to go to our debut player Binaya Sharma who was full of energy and constant menace to the opponents defence throughout the game.

Thanks Awesome Parmigiana Bar and Grill Anurodh Bhattarai for the team sponsorship again this year.

We go again this Sunday against Umoja FC which will prove to be much tougher opponent for sure.
