Its the start of our Billiards season and we kicked off today with our Billiards Scratch Club Championship 2026.

7 players entered and competed as one Round Robin group in 45 minute matches. Top 4 qualified for 60 minute semi finals and then onto the 75 minute final.

In the final, 6 time champion Ray Wilcher was up against defending champion Cooper Thomson. Ray had got a narrow win over Cooper in the group stage but Cooper was able to take an early lead in the final and stayed just ahead of Ray before a 52 by Cooper helped him to take the title by 284 to 220.

Congrats to both players and thanks to Des Turner OAM for refereeing the final.

It’s funny how things work sometimes. We shared a post about Adam Grunsell from The Snooker Shop yesterday.

And now we have another post on Adam to share. Adam showed up last night to play his scheduled B Grade Handicap Final against Gary Davis.

Gary was giving Adam 20 start over the Best of 7 Frames Final with Des Turner as referee. Gary raced out to a 3-0 lead before Adam opened up a bit and began the comeback. He got it all the way back to 3-3 before downing the final black to complete a wonderful comeback victory.

Well done to Gary for reaching the final and congrats to Adam on becoming our B Grade Handicap Champion for 2026.

That new 1066 cue from The Snooker Shop is already working its magic.

Thank you to The Snooker Shop and Hastings for your support to junior snooker in general as well as to Grunsell.

Our members love The Snooker Shop. At the weekend I handed my cue over to a member to test out. He loved it and is now looking at when he can make the journey down to see you guys.

Looking forward to seeing Adam go to the next level now he has upgraded his cue.

An overnight train, an 8am arrival and a tournament win. That’s how we first met Adam! 🏆

At just 12 years old, Adam travelled through the night from Club Banora to Hornsby RSL for our very first junior tournament. After sleeping on the train, he arrived at 8am, picked up his cue and went on to win the whole thing!

He became a regular at our junior tournaments and later an Australian Champion, winning the Under 15 National Billiards title. 🇦🇺

This weekend it was great to have Adam spend a couple of days with us in the shop. A recent growth spurt meant he’d outgrown his MYCUE Junior, so it was time for an upgrade. His choice? A 1066 Billiards Royal FS. Safe to say he won’t be outgrowing this one! 😉

We love his passion for the game, and seeing him regularly rocking The Snooker Shop shirt back home at Club Banora means a lot to us.

Enjoy the new cue mate. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it! 👊

We ran our free entry members only comp this weekend with 17 players battling it out for the $1000 prize pool. Big thanks to Twin Towns for their support of our club to be able to give something back to our members.

After the round robin stage on Saturday, the best of 3 quarters and semi finals were played on Sunday to get us to the final.

John Themelkos and David Jones battled it out over 5 frames with Des Turner OAM as our referee.

John has made something of a habit in this event. In the past 2 runnings of this comp, John has reached the final twice but had to settle for runner up each time.

And it was same again for John. Congratulations to David Jones who won 3-2 on the pink.

The high break prize was won by Ray Wilcher with a nice 57 in his quarter final.

Some photos as a wrap up of the Eamonn Duff Twin Towns Classic 2026.

56 players across 3 long days plus 6 early matches on the Friday before we even got formally underway.

Big thanks to the team behind the scenes who blocked and ironed between every match, looked after the players, and refereed whenever it was needed. And to Des Turner OAM who refereed the final alongside Bryne Smith who was the official scorer. Both of them also took on a semi final each with both going the distance all the way down to the last couple of balls in 3-2 results.

Also huge thanks to Twin Towns for their support and the staff at Club Banora for their efforts.

Congrats to the Consolation Finalists - Graham Clarkson (winner) and Bill Horner.
