Huge appreciation to one of our valued sponsors of the Eamonn Duff Twin Towns Classic 2026 - Tweed Dog Grooming and Day Care.

And we always have a chuckle about this post from 2024 so we thought we would share it again.

If you have a pooch (or a Peter) that could do with a bit of pampering, get in touch with them. You would be barking mad not to.

We would like to welcome onboard a new sponsor in 2024 to add to the existing list of wonderful sponsors that provide sponsorship to our annual Eamonn Duff Classic.

Over the next couple of months, we will give each of them a shout out on this page. Please be sure to use their services and remember to tell them that it was Club Banora Snooker who sent you.

Our newest sponsor is Tweed Dog Grooming and Day Care. Our Eamonn Duff Ambassador, Peter Campbell, paid them a visit last week for a photo and to say thanks.

Now, Peter was in there for about an hour and when he emerged for the photograph he was looking particularly well-groomed and, so we are told, smelled lovely. Who's a pretty boy?

Welcome to Tweed Dog Grooming and Day Care. Thank you for your support and looking after Peter.

Week 7 of Des Turner Teams Event tonight and defending champions Scotch Fingers are the first to falter in the 3 way race for the top of the table.

They lost 5-2 to 3-Gen and that win for 3-Gen sees them go 2 points clear in 1st place.

In the other match, Hard Workers got off to yet another slow start and were trailing 4-0 to Chalk It Up before grabbing the last 3 frames to go down 4-3. Those lost frames could come back to hurt Chalk It Up with only 5 points separating 1st to 3rd.

Our annual ‘Cricket’ Club Championship took place earlier today with 10 players entered.

After 2 groups competed in the round robin stage, the semi finals were between David Ross (+14) vs Bob Morton (+18) and Dave Dern (+18) vs Cooper Thomson (0).

After blitzing his way through the group, Cooper was favourite to get through but Dave was able to contain the pace attack and put together a solid knock to reach the final with 9 runs to spare.

The other semi was lower scoring as David skittled Bob for a low score to take it 56-22.

The final was reduced to 1 innings each and Dave Dern was able to narrowly get the win of David Ross by a mere 7 runs with a 101-94 result.

Congrats to Dave Dern on the win.

After all the FNCSA action last weekend, it was back to our Des Turner Teams Event tonight with Round 5.

And it was another shuffle of the top 3 teams as Scotch Fingers regained the lead with an incredibly close 4-3 win over bottom placed Hard Workers.

Hard Workers looked on track to get their 1st win as they were 3-2 before the last 2 frames were decided on black balls. There was only 6 points separating the total points scored after 7 frames.

In the other match, 3-Gen grabbed the win with a narrow 4-3 result over Chalk It Up. That win saw 3-Gen climb up to 2nd place and topple the leaders Chalk It Up down to 3rd place.

Big congratulations to the team from Club Banora Snooker for successfully defending the FNCSA Club Championship today at Ballina RSL.

The team of David Ross, Tim Ashcroft, Phil Towle, Graham Wilson, Jimmy Thomson, Grant Schirmer, Brian Green and Adam Grunsell, competed against Casino and Ballina Snooker Clubs.

After every player had 2 singles frames and 2 doubles frames, the final score was Banora 18 Ballina 10 Casino 8.

Special mentions to Tim Ashcroft, David Ross and young Adam Grunsell for winning all 4 of their matches.

Thanks to FNCSA Des Turner for organising, and Ballina RSL Snooker (especially Alyssa Paton) for hosting us.

Congratulations to Tony Rea (Casino) who beat Jimmy Thomson (Banora) 3-2 on a respotted black to win the FNCSA ‘Mark Jackson’ Champion of Champions at Ballina RSL.

Jimmy went 2-0 up before Tony levelled the match and Tony looked like he had done enough when he went 23 up by potting the brown. However Jimmy battled for the snooker and finally got it before potting blue, pink and black.

Both players had chances on the respotted black and Tony eventually potted it to win.
