The festival will run from Saturday the 4th of September until Monday the 10th of October 2021.

Today we celebrate the life of Albert Elea Namatjira, arguably one of Australia’s most famous and facinating sons.

Best known for his art, Namatjira was born at Hermannsburg mission, was the first Indigenous Australian to be granted Australian citizenship, was honoured with the Queen’s Coronation Medal in 1953, and lived a life that exposed the contradictions of Australian society.

Today is also Namatjira’s birthday. If he was still alive he would be 115 years old on this day though the hardships he endured saw him pass away at only 54 years old.

If you used Google in Australia today you will notice a Doodle commemorating this incredible man.

From all of us, Happy Birthday Albert! May your legacy continue to resonate far into the future.

Fantastic weekend, 250 rogaining participants walked past the cellar door. Some stopped to warm up and dry their socks next to the fire. Tasted our wine and enjoyed the scenery of Bangor.
