Yes James! 🐝

As the pitches fire and the bats crack, 16-year old green-shirt umpire James Mills watches intently.

Having officiated throughout the 2024 MWBL season, he has come to relish the excitement of being right in the middle of the action.

James has always loved baseball, but finding his place on the field was a challenge due to an acquired brain injury (ABI). As a teenager, despite being able to pitch a mean sinker, his ABI limited his ability to run the bases.

It wasn’t until his first baseball coach Barry Fields suggested he take on umpiring that he found a way to get involved that he could really sink his teeth into.

Way to go Audrey! Congratulations!

🚨 GO LONG, AUDREY CHEUNG 💣 We have the world’s first homer at a national Little League Girls championship belongs to young Audrey of the Victoria Belles 💜

Her two run homer to centre field was her first deep fly ever over a fence 💥

“All my coaches have always told me to focus on hitting a line drive and if you’re early you will hit it over the fences,” she says. “I was thinking line drive, line drive and try to hit it right centre to score the run from second and then it went over.”

Audrey says the experience at this national championship has been unforgettable.

“This is the biggest tournament I’ve ever had in my life to play baseball. I’m meeting so many people like girls from New South Wales, South Australia and other states that I’m definitely going to see if I want to play up on women’s teams and hope to see them as professionals one day too,” she says.

Audrey and the Belles will play NSW Blue in the Gold Medal game on Sunday morning at the newly rescheduled time of 9:00AM 🏆

“Baseball all day,” Audrey finishes.
