Hi everyone,
I'm Michelle and I welcome you to Miss Spartan!! I am a Mum to two gorgeous kids and basically, just love all things fitness. I have been training consistently for the past 4 years and before that was always dabbling in something sport related. I have loved seeing the changes in my body that consistent training and good nutrition brings (though I do confess that I still have a big wea

kness for chocolate and lolly snakes!)
It's a great feeling to be stronger, more motivated and to have more energy to keep up with the kids. It has also been incredible to take on and conquer challenges I never thought possible. Last year I completed a double trifecta in Spartan races; 6 races of varying lengths in one calendar year. I can now also say I love running (I can't believe I just said that!) and run twice a week with a casual running group of local Mums (go the G'nT's!)
My biggest passion is to motivate and to see people moving. Whether it be walking, running, lifting weights, boxing or anything in between....to just be moving and being active is a privilege and I believe, a priority. Miss Spartan welcomes guys and gals and you are also very welcome to bring along the kids - what a great way to show them that active living is a priority in your life :)

Amanda, our 2025 Queen.... working on overhead pressing today🔥💪

In my experience both personally and professionally, overhead movements are avoided immensely!! They feel uncomfortable to do.... they are SO hard ... and unlike lower body movements... progressing in weight is often very slow... which can be frustrating.

In saying all that... its often the hard stuff that is the good stuff!! Overhead pressing hits shoulders, back, core... and requires stabilisation through legs. Its a HUGE bang for buck movement.

And... if you want to talk real life functionality.... think about how many times a day you need to put things in a higher place. Or lift them down safely. Theres the boring stuff like the washing on the line, putting dishes away.... but then theres the really important things... like managing suitcases in overhead compartments 🛩

If youre a woman in peri/menopause youve probably also heard that shoulders can become quite problematic as oestrogen declines. We have many clients doing battle with this (myself included).... but what's most important is to continue to use your body, strengthen your shoulders and back and modify where needed .... avoiding the all too common frozen shoulder.

When you train with us, these are the things we consider when planning. And why right now, our clients strength gains are consistently improving. We know our lifts, we know our people, we keep things simple and celebrate the wins!

About last week....🔥

On Mondays and Thursdays we focus on getting strong. We do this with progressive programming with all our of our Coaches planning together. Last week was the end of our five week block.

We work through tempo and volume .... focusing on confidence and good form.... and we throw the buzz of a group setting in.... and boom💥

All of our crew progressed from our first week.... with clients hitting 35kg - 135kg on the glute bridges....💪

It was SUCH A GREAT WEEK!! And i am so very proud of what we offer at Miss Spartan!! We may not have a fancy studio.... but we DO have absolute beasts for clients!! And the gains we are making with our crew in strength right now are dam impressive!!

Congratulations everyone!! And a big thanks to the Coaching Crew. We all invest so much of our time into continuing to learn so we can offer the exceptional training that we do.... and i know every single coach was buzzing for you all last week... so genuinely happy to see you all improving.

This week we are dipping into a unilateral program... and then into our next block 👊
