On Tuesday this week the BJC held the first race meeting of the 2026/2027 Season. A beautiful sunny day at Ballina; a very enjoyable day and the track raced well.
Leading NSW Country Trainer Matt Matthew Dunn Racing had a treble, & there were winners from Trevor Whittington (Coffs), Allan Chau (Gold Coast Turf Club), Stephen Bennet (Casino), Tony Gollan (Brisbane's leading Trainer) & the local trainer partnership of Stephen & Jordan Lee.
Ballina apprentice Siabh Rigley rode her first winner from only her 12th ride, leading all the way on the aptly named Do It For You, for local connections. Siabh was in good company as the jockey ranks were very solid, with leading Metro riders like Jake Bayliss, Nick Heywood, Georgina Cartwright & Andrew Mallyon, who returned to racing after injury, all having success, along with leading NRRA riders Raymond Spokes & Kirk Matheson who both rode winners.
