Some people have dared to suggest that Samson is not an actual coach. To those people, we say:
✔️ he attends every session
✔️ he watches every crew and swan closely
✔️ he maintains excellent morale
✔️ he accepts payment in snacks
Sure, he occasionally falls asleep during technical discussions, has frequent “accidents” on the jetty, rolls in dead rats more often than the rowers, and provides feedback mostly limited to tail wags, but we’re yet to find a coach with better attendance and he really is almost as good as

Coach Samson. BCRC’s goodest coach.

A little rain wasn’t going to keep our All Abilities rowers off the water this morning!

Just look at this amazing young athlete who has recently graduated from one of our adapted boats into a double scull - a fantastic milestone and a reflection of her determination, hard work & growing confidence.

Behind in bow is Harry, Ballarat City Rowing Club’s dedicated All Abilities coach, whose patience, encouragement and expertise help make moments like these possible.

Extra support. Extra stability. Same water.

“What makes these boats different?”

BCRC Boat Captain Amber explains how our All Abilities boats provide increased stability and support, helping more people experience the enjoyment, challenge and freedom of being on the water.

At Ballarat City Rowing Club, these boats aren’t just for para-athletes. They’re also a fantastic option for:
✔️ Adult Learn to Row participants
✔️ Athletes returning from injury
✔️ Older athletes
✔️ Anyone who would benefit from a little extra stability

Because rowing should be accessible to everyone.

Access and the right equipment can open the door to participation for more people in our community.

Not every rower starts in the same boat. More importantly, not every rower has the same body. And sometimes the conditions aren’t exactly calm on Lake Wendouree…

Today the conditions were more suited to boogie boards than rowing shells, but club member Meg (in jeans and a puffer) was able to head out in one of our magnificent all-abilities boats proving that NOTHING can tip these boats!

Ballarat City Rowing Club is proud to have two All Abilities boats rigged and ready for use. These boats provide a stable and supportive option for a wide range of individuals, including:

* All Abilities athletes
* Rowers returning from injury
* Adult Learn to Row participants
* Older athletes
* Anyone who would benefit from a little extra stability on the water

Rowing should be accessible for everyone. Whether you’re aiming for competition, fitness, rehabilitation or simply the joy of being on the water, there’s a place for you at the club.
