BMS and Heathmont — A Great Club Connection
Two years ago, BMS was invited to Heathmont to take part in a practice match before the Victorian bowls season got underway.
The idea was instigated by our BMS Division 1 player, Dave Andrews, who had been a member of Heathmont Bowls Club for 16 years, including serving as President, before moving to Ballarat and joining BMS four years ago.
“I thought it might be a great opportunity to get together with bowlers who have a similar club culture to BMS. It was a no-brainer,” said Dave.
Both clubs really enjoyed that first visit to Heathmont. We missed the return trip last year, but certainly made up for it this year with a very successful practice match.
BMS put on a BBQ, opened the bar, and our 50-odd visitors had a great time. There was plenty of good bowling, plenty of laughs and, as you would expect when two clubs get together, the bar seemed to attract plenty of attention once the bowls were put away.
It’s great to see the friendship between BMS and Heathmont continuing to grow — and hopefully continue over the years to come.

I wish to advise that a BBQ lunch will be available to bowlers in their practice match with Heathmont Bowling Club.

The BBQ will be from 12noon to 12.30pm with bowls expected to commence from 1pm.
Any assistance/volunteers to assist with the BBQ will be appreciated.

💚 Buninyong Bowls Club enter a new era with upgraded green!

Bowlers at the Buninyong Bowling Club are enjoying a revitalised playing surface following a City of Ballarat investment of more than $500,000 in the club's synthetic green.

The ageing surface has been replaced to improve playability, accessibility and safety, ensuring the facility can continue to support social, recreational and competitive bowls for years to come.
Good on you Buninyong Bowls club for taking a big leap forward improving your playing greens. The BMS club wishes you all the best. Good bowling.

Robert Dickinson is aiming to resurrect the Bluey’s Day tournament this season with Stephen Byron's help. If held as an evening tournament, it could be held earlier, after Pennant mid-March, while daylight saving hours apply. Robert may have an update.
