🚀 Weekend Highlights from the Pacific Championships! 🚀

What a weekend it was at the NRLW Pacific Cup! Here are some standout moments:

🌟 Elsie Albert’s Inspirational Performance🌟

Despite the Orchids’ loss to Fetu Samoa, captain Elsie Albert’s performance was nothing short of heroic. Playing her 10th Test for PNG, she scored two tries, racked up 178 run metres, busted 13 tackles, and made 23 tackles. Her efforts earned her the player of the match award and showcased the potential for aspiring youngsters back home.
Albert emphasized the importance of the campaign’s impact over the results: “We just wanted to prove a point and get across the line… I am proud of all the girls and the effort they put in throughout the competition.”

🌟 Jillaroos’ Dominant Victory 🌟

Australia’s Jillaroos piled on five tries and kept New Zealand scoreless until the second-last minute, winning the Pacific Cup women’s final 24-4. Standout performances included Tamika Upton and Tarryn Aiken, who both scored solo tries in the second half. Aiken, awarded player of the match, continued her stellar form after leading the Roosters to the NRLW title. 🏆

🚀 Women’s Weekly Wrap Up: October 29, 2024 🚀

Welcome to PitchUp’s Women’s Weekly Wrap Up! Here are this week’s highlights:

🔥 The Dropout Dilemma: 43% of girls stop sports after primary school. Let’s challenge stereotypes, improve menstrual health education, and foster inclusive environments.

🔥 Sports’ Lifelong Impact: Nebraska set a record with 92,003 fans for women’s volleyball. The 2024 Paris Olympics had an equal gender split, and women athletes are getting top-dollar brand deals and sponsorships.

🔥 Matildas’ Historic Win: Kyra Cooney-Cross and Clare Hunt scored their first international goals, leading the Matildas to a 2-1 victory over Germany, their first win in 19 years.

🔥 Bonmatí’s Triumph: Aitana Bonmatí retained the Ballon d’Or Féminin. Achievements: Women’s World Cup Golden Ball winner, 2x Ballon d’Or Féminin winner, FIFA The Best Women’s Player, UEFA Women’s Nations League MVP, Laureus Sportswoman of the Year.

🏆 Proud Partners in Victory! 🏆

We’re thrilled to have played a part in Coogee United Women’s incredible journey to victory at the Champion of Champions Finals! 🥇⚽️

Thanks to the top-class facilities at Matraville Sports High School, secured through PitchUp, the team had the perfect environment to train and prepare for their historic win. Our partnership with Coogee United FC has shown that fair access to high-quality facilities can lead to triumphs on the field.

Club veteran Amy Singh shared, “Securing safe, high-quality training facilities has been crucial to our club’s success during this Champion of Champions campaign. We’ve appreciated the assistance and support to gain access to great facilities during a time of year that traditionally is limited for football.”

Coogee United made history by becoming the first team to win both the All Age Men’s and All Age Women’s finals at Valentine Sports Park. The Women’s side, coached by Michael Caufield, defeated Gymea United 2-1, turning last year’s heartbreak into a triumph for the ages.
