Is your son or daughter 7, 8 or 9 years of age and interested in playing Footy in 2022?

Junior football is on its way back and young players about to commence their careers are invited to be part of the AFL Goldfields Footy for Fun on 18th February at the City Oval Ballarat commencing at 5.00pm until 6.30pm.

Footy for Fun is a great opportunity for young players looking to join community football clubs to come to a fun evening when they can play some matches in small-sided teams and receive information on junior football clubs particularly those playing in the Ballarat FNL Under 9 competition.

You must register your child to be eligible to attend the night.

AFL Goldfields would like to wish all clubs, players, volunteers and supporters a safe and merry festive season! Thankyou all for your efforts during 2021!

Below is a summary of the participation outcomes achieved during 2021 in the AFL Goldfields region. I'm sure we are all looking forward to hopefully an uninterrupted season in 2022!

After an extensive selection process which included an Academy Testing Day involving over 300 participants, AFL Goldfields is pleased to announce next years AFL Goldfields Academy Squads.

For the very first time, there will be a dedicated Academy setup in Maryborough involving players from the area. The Academy will be conducted throughout February and early March next year.

Magnificent Conditions for the AFL Goldfields Academy Testing day today. Over 250 players from around the region are being tested on a variety of skills before the final Academy Squads are selected. The AFL Goldfields Academy will take place in February & March 2022.

*AFL GOLDFIELDS ACADEMY ANNOUNCEMENT*

AFL Goldfields is delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Beacham as the HEAD AFL Goldfields Academy Coach for this upcoming season. Tim had a decorated playing career which included winning a Henderson Medal in the Ballarat FL and is a very experienced and well educated coach, having coached at a number of levels over the last 20 years. AFL Goldfields is delighted that Tim has agreed to accept this Head Coaching Position.

Tim will take the reigns from Rick Andrews who has stepped back from the Head Coaching role as he has taken up a Full Time Coaching role at a club. Fortunately for the program, Rick will still be involved and in an exciting initiative, Rick will lead an AFL Goldfields Academy base in Maryborough which will work with local players from the Maryborough region. AFL Goldfields is delighted Rick can stay involved in the academy program and continue on his magnificent work from the last few years as the Head Coach.

The Academy will be conducted during February, with a testing day taking place in late November. Clubs will soon receive information on this years AFL Goldfields Academy process.
