Week 3 of our guided competition focused on the “4 Cones” concept.
A strong position inside the court allows players to be more aggressive, create sharper angles (cracking the singles line), and hit shorter attacking balls.
A bad or compromised position is when players are behind the baseline in a defensive position, forcing them to hit deeper balls down the middle of the court. This closes angles and limits opportunities for their opponent to attack from inside the court.
Players need to constantly assess their court position and respond according to what the ball allows them to do — hitting the right shot at the right time trying to target the right cone based on their position on the court.
