What do you do to chill? Today I spent some time working on one of my plants. VERY much still in its early stages of development with probably 2-3 more years before I even think of refinements phase.

That said I am happy with the early stages of getting some movement into the branches. Looks a bit empty and weird right now but once it grows out and takes form I’m sure I will be pleased.

Have a great Sunday tomorrow everyone and see you all next week.

A Testament from a Student of BJMA - Ballarat

I have only gotten back into training within the last month properly and with the support of my coach, was encouraged to give the 5hr Tactical Krav Maga Seminar at Crack and I did.
From when I walked into SMAC it was such a welcoming experience and obviously with lil nerves I kept reserved and humbled. but as the day goes on you are put out of your comfort zone like any normal class and start to learn new names and where people are from but most importantly a new technique not once or twice but from instructors from all around Victoria on this particular event.
I think events like this is a true testament to how BJMA come together and I look forward to coming back in August with our Ballarat team to conquer some more goals and take home some well deserved badges and memories.
Thanks SMAC for hosting us and Thank you Coach Brenden for the Support from back home 🏡

We were only talking about this at the start of Krav class tonight!!!!!

I honestly don’t know how many times he will visit after this one. Let’s all do our best to get to this absolute legend. Training is all about getting these experiences.

This week I had a few conversations in very different places that all came back to the same lesson.

On Thursday after kids class, I sat everyone down and asked:

“Who here can tie their shoes?”
“Who still uses velcro?”

A few hands went up.

I told them something important: the only way we grow is by asking for help. Learning from our parents, teachers, coaches, or mentors isn’t weakness, it’s maturity.

At class, you are in charge of your own learning.

Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing.
Focus on yourself.
Use your time wisely.
Ask questions.
Ask for help.

Every black belt in this club is here to help. Want to practise a technique? Need help with your kata? Ask. That’s what we’re here for.

Funny enough, the same lesson came up again today at work. I told one of the apprentices that asking for help before things go wrong is smart. Waiting until you’re buried is too late.

Truth is, it took me nearly 30 years to learn how to ask for help properly. Maybe longer.

How much further could I have gone if I’d learned that earlier? Who knows.

What I do know is this:

None of us have all the answers.
And there is strength in saying,
“I don’t know. Can you help me?”

That’s where growth starts.

Happy Sunday.
See you all this week.
