🎉 Club Tweed is excited to announce the 23rd Annual Junior Golden Nugget Field🏆

Get ready for world-class junior bowls on Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26, as the 2026 Junior Golden Nugget showcases its biggest and most diverse field yet.

🌏 With talented young players representing seven Australian states, plus international rising stars from Hong Kong China, and New Zealand, this year’s event is set to be a blockbuster weekend.

A total of 48 juniors – 24 boys and 24 girls – will compete for glory, hoping to etch their names into history alongside past champions such as, Corey Wedlock, Dylan Fisher, Nick Cahill, Jarryd Davies, Kane Nelson, Lisa Phillips, Samantha Norona, Jessie Cottell, Kira Bourke, and Ellen Fife (née Ryan).

🌟 Widely recognised as a golden stepping stone for Australia’s best young bowlers, the Junior Golden Nugget continues to attract top talent. This year, Club Tweed is thrilled to welcome 5 international players who bring added flair to this prestigious event.

After a successful event last year, Victoria Bowling Club invites teams to enter our Open Fours Indoor Bowls Tournament on Friday June 19, 2026.

It was a pleasure to partner with St Alipius Parish School again this year as their home base for training in preparation for the SSV Primary School Lawn Bowls competition.

The students spent four Wednesday afternoons at our club in the lead up to the event learning the basic fundamentals and rules of the sport under the guidance of our wonderful volunteers.

Congratulations to all of the children on the way they conducted themselves at both the training sessions and during yesterday’s competition.

Thank you to our member volunteers for giving up their time to assist these young stars in preparing for their success yesterday. Let’s hope it’s another successful day on September 3 in the finals. ✌🏼🤍💙

A huge day for our club on the state stage!

Congratulations to Jarrod, Jesse and Kane on an outstanding performance to secure their place in the Men’s State Triples Grand Final. A fantastic achievement and a testament to their teamwork and composure. We wish them all the very best as they take to the green in the decider.

At the same time, best of luck to Craig who begins his State Singles campaign this morning.
A great opportunity to make his mark, and we’re right behind him every step of the way.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 | 𝗠𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀

A great start to the Men’s and Women’s Triples events today in sunny weather, but the breeze did pick up in the afternoon which tested a few. The men moved through their rounds quite quickly, enabling a change to the schedule and a further round today getting down to Semi-Final’s. Some big scores in the first two rounds for Sandbelt, Mornington Peninsula and Ballarat Highlands.

The day finished with Wimmera taking on Ballarat Highlands, with the Wimmera trio getting away to good start, leading 7-0 after 3 ends. However once the Ballarat crew got going there was no stopping them, holding the lead from end 8 to the finish line to win 20-14.

Metro West had their work cut out for them against the impressive Sandbelt team who had dominated all morning and came out firing again, leading 13-4 after 12 ends. But the determined crew from the West weren’t having any of it, powering home to level the scores 14-14, taking it to a thrilling extra end, to become eventual 1-shot victors.

So it’s 𝗕𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀’ Kane Silbereisen, Jesse Thomas and Jarrod Burt, versus 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁’𝘀 Garry Ball, Brendan Umbers and Caig Mills in the Grand Final, which will be screened on BVTV at 9.30am.

An incredible honour for our club to be named the inaugural Club of the Year for the BHBR - Ballarat Playing Area.

This recognition reflects the hard work, passion, and dedication of our entire community — from players and volunteers to supporters and sponsors. To be acknowledged in the very first year of this award makes it even more special and something we are all immensely proud of.

We are also thrilled to celebrate Micah Oswin being named Male Junior Bowler of the Year — a fantastic achievement and a testament to his commitment and talent.

Adding to this success, we had many players recognised in Rink of the Year across both midweek and Saturday pennant in each division, highlighting the strength and depth of our club right across all levels of competition.

The BHBR also acknowledged George Pyke for his over 1000 pennant games played.

Our club continues to grow both on and off the green with success at all levels. This achievement belongs to everyone who contributes to making our club what it is.

Today Victoria Bowling Club hosted a Bowls Australia BPL Cup Preliminary Round. It was an intimate affair, with just one section of four teams, but we still saw some terrific bowls played and a tense final round with a pair of two round winners competing for the right to move on to the Regional Final.

The local side of Marc Oswin, Jarrod Burt & Micah Oswin, managed 1 set win and a tie against the Webbcona trio of Nathan Biggin, Deb Gorin & Gary Johnson to take out the day.

Thank you to all of our bowlers for competing today. With many playing the format for the first time, all agreed that it was an enjoyable day and would certainly encourage everyone to seek out a preliminary round to enter.

Sebastopol Bowling Club will be hosting a preliminary round this coming Sunday (April 12).
