The team had another successful day at the Greater Western Cross Country Championships on Monday, with everyone performing well.
First up was Charlotte who won her age group with second not in the ground. (Great job Charlotte) I think your dream of making the state schools team is going to be a reality.
Next was Yolanda who continues to improve and came in a strong second in her age group with another great run, improving from her 9th place last year she is also looking like she will win a place in the state team this year.
Not to be outdone Tilly also ran a strong second in her age group see photos. Another that would make the state team but will be away in France when the state championships are on competing for Australia in the triathlon event (swimming, horse riding and running with shooting)
Jimmy (no photo) continues to improve with every run and finished 7th to qualify for the state championships. Watch out for Jimmy. He is a young man on a mission and more is to come.

It was a day of wins with everyone bringing home the ribbons mostly blue.
Yolanda and Charlotte had quite a challenge winning their respective 800 metre races by 100 metres and then running the 1500 against the boys, beating all bar 2 of them and it was close as they both chased the two boys all the way down the final straight beating the next best girl by over 200 metres.
Emily had a day out winning the triple jump with a 9.05 meter personal best then winning the high jump. She had a strong run in the 100 for second but saved the best for last as she anchored the relay team taking the batten some 10 metres behind and running down the leader for an easy win. (See the photo of the finish)
Georgia ran second in the 80 meter hurdles and triple jump, Tess won the shot put and second in the Triple jump. Beau won the triple jump with a personal best of 9.08 metres as well as the hurdles and second in the 100 metres. Taima was 1st in the 200 the shot put and long jump.
James in his first run after joining the squad ran 3rd in the 1500 metres.

We went to the Hamilton district school sports today and once again Phil Molesworth Coaching had a good day with Emily Iredell and Yolanda O’Sullivan picking up a bunch of ribbons. It was a pity they were in the same age group and met in a number of events but combined well to help their school to 1st in the 4 by 100 relay.
Emily stared in her division taking out the triple jump with a record performance of 8.83 in her first competition in this event, Next she did the long jump again breaking the record with a jump of 4.43 then she went to the high jump again breaking the record with a jump of 1.40 not her personal best but a great effort. Next she won the 100 hurdles (no time available) and then the 100 meters in 15.19 the last event was the relays. Emily was awarded the medal for top athlete in her division. That was 6 events for 6 wins and three records.
Yolanda also won 6 ribbons with first in the 800 meters and 200 meters and third in the long jump. she was second to Emily in the 100 hurdles and the 100 meters and ran a strong leg in the relay to put the school in front with Emily as anchor bring them home with a strong run.
Congratulations girls you should be very proud of yourselves.

Another great weekend for the group
Holly had a great run in the 200 with a charge to the line taking out the event with the lunge in 26.43 and then recovered from a bad start in the 100 finishing a strong second in 12.83.
Charlotte ran three personal bests, starting on Saturday with a great run in the 800 in 2:33.73 and then came to the early start on Sunday to win a bronze medal in the 1500 with a time of 5:14.62. Not content with that she wanted to stay and run the 400 at 5pm and ran another personal best with a time of 68.39.
Well done to both of you

Emily is getting ready for her first steeplechase race in the USA. For those thinking it is too cold to train check out the surroundings and the snow in the background and around the track.
There is a good reason for the track suit.
Emily is looking good and moving over the jump well.
Looking good.

πŸ”΄ MPV STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS πŸ”΅

Congratulations to our Modern Pentathlon and Tetrathlon members Matilda Mason, Finley Hiscock and Charlie Hiscock who brought home two State Champion titles at the Kardinia International/Barwon Valley PC event on the weekend πŸ‘

A third consecutive State Title at this event for Matilda, with her first title in U13 category in 2021, U15 in 2022 and this year as an new U17 athlete she competed up two categories to take out the πŸ₯‡Junior State Champion title. Matilda was also named the 2022 MPV Highest Aggregate Score Award across her best three performances last year πŸ† and placed 4th in the Tetrathlon event.

Finley has been on an upwards trajectory across the five pentathlon sub sports 🐴 πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ 🀺 πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ πŸ”« in recent months, and impressed with a convincing win in the U15 male category to claim his first State Championship title, well done Finley! Finley then went on to place πŸ₯‰ in the Tetrathlon on Sunday.

Charlie was close behind with consistent performances in all disciplines to place πŸ₯‰ in the state championship event and 4th in the Tetrathlon.

Well done to these three HPC members who train hard to achieve such great performances and demonstrate good horsemanship. We look forward to seeing them represent at the MPA Nationals in Melbourne in April.
