Supporting Hanshi Gary Viccars

For so many of us in Kyokushin, Hanshi Gary Viccars has been far more than an instructor. He has been a mentor, leader and friend who has dedicated an enormous part of his life to Kyokushin and to helping others.

Now is an opportunity for our Kyokushin family and wider community to give something back.

A GoFundMe has been organised to help Hanshi with his medical expenses. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help — and if you’re unable to donate, simply sharing the fundraiser would be greatly appreciated.

Hanshi has always been there for his students and his Kyokushin family. Now it’s our turn to be there for him.

Wow, 20 years ago!

A very young Sempai Michael Winn as a yellow belt, Sempai Troy Winn as a green belt, and Kaicho Robbie Adams in the middle.

Plenty more hair, a lot less kilos and apparently they both thought we were pretty tough. 😂

20 years later, all are still here, same branch, still training and still Kyokushin.

So sorry everyone but both kick start and adults class's are both cancelled due to hall being booked out by a school camp found this out a minute ago when I went to get the keys so sorry see you all next week

What an incredible achievement!🏆

A massive congratulations to Sempai Bree Price, who today was crowned Australian Champion at the MKA National Championships!

Bree has put in countless hours of training, shown incredible dedication, and her hard work has paid off on the national stage. We couldn't be prouder of what she has achieved and the way she represented Ballarat Kyokushin and the Hanshi Gary Viccars Branch.

A huge congratulations also to Sempai Michael Winn, who not only stepped in to coach Bree throughout the day but also claimed the Australian Veterans Championship title himself.

Congratulations to everyone who competed at the championships. It's an honour to stand alongside so many talented karateka from around Australia.

Well done, Sempai Bree – Australian Champion! And congratulations again to Sempai Michael Winn on his Australian Veterans title.

We are all incredibly proud.

Tomorrow, Sempai Bree Price flies to Sydney to compete against Australia's best at the National Championships.

Bree has been training hard in the lead-up to this event, putting in the work and preparing for the challenge ahead.

She'll be coached by Sempai Michael Winn, and we're confident she'll step onto the mats ready to give it everything she's got.

On behalf of everyone at Ballarat Kyokushin, we wish you the very best of luck, Bree. Enjoy the experience, fight hard, and make us proud!

A big thank you to Sempai Michael for stepping in to coach Bree this weekend.

We'd also like to wish Sempai Michael, the fighters from WBK Dojo , Bellarine Kyokushin Karate club , and all competitors from the Hanshi Gary Viccars Branch the very best of luck.
