Fresh off the break for Junior Country Championships, Lucas HC returned to the pitch for their Round 4 matches, with some great team performances across the weekend. Here are the Round 4 Match Reports!
Under 11s Vs Bobcats White
Our Under 11 team continued their strong start to the season with a terrific performance against Bobcats White. Lucas showed great teamwork throughout the match, moving the ball well and applying constant pressure around the contest.
Heidi Shepherd, Kushil Niwas and Ruby Hargreaves worked hard through the midfield, helping drive the ball forward, while Jonny Hargreaves was dangerous in attack and made the most of his opportunities in front of goal. Noah Gambino played perhaps his best game for Lucas HC, carrying the ball with speed and creating numerous attacking opportunities with his strong running through the midfield. Annabelle Rowland and Evora Davis were important contributors defensively, repeatedly working hard to repel the Bobcats attacks and move the ball forward for Lucas.

Under 14s Vs Blaze Black
Our Under 14s put together an outstanding team performance against Blaze Black, taking out a 5-1 win. The Lucas midfield worked tirelessly all game, creating repeated attacking opportunities and controlling the flow of play.
Caleb Hiller and Reuben Pougnault were influential around the contest, while Mack Hargreaves, Ryan Parkinson and Jordan Shepherd provided strong drive into attack. Mietta Gambino also played an important role for Lucas, working hard and helping the team maintain pressure across the ground.
Defensively, Lucas remained disciplined throughout the match, limiting Blaze’s scoring opportunities and quickly moving the play forward.

Under 16s Vs Blaze
The Lucas Under 16s played out a thrilling 2-all draw against Blaze in what proved to be a high-quality and tightly contested match.
Both teams generated strong attacking play throughout the game, with Lucas showing great resilience as Blaze continued to apply pressure. Henry Beechey and Reuben Pougnault were influential around the contest, while Zara Staggard and Harley Shepherd both worked hard and played important roles in Lucas maintaining structure across the pitch.
The defensive unit remained composed under pressure, while the forwards continued to create opportunities in an entertaining and even battle.

Men’s Div 2 v Bobcats
The Lucas Men’s Div 2 side continued their impressive run of form with a dominant 7-0 victory over Bobcats. From the opening whistle, Lucas controlled the tempo of the match with disciplined structure, relentless pressure and strong teamwork across the ground.
The Lucas defence was outstanding throughout the contest, with Ryan Geddes and Damon Shepherd continually shutting down the Bobcats attack and quickly rebounding the ball back into dangerous areas. Through the midfield, Harley Shepherd, Issy Hiller, Mack Hargreaves and Reuben Pougnault worked tirelessly to control possession and link defence with attack. Their hard running and clean ball movement created repeat opportunities inside the attacking circle.
Up forward, Caleb Hiller, Lucas Jones and Jordan Shepherd kept constant pressure on the Bobcats defence with smart leading patterns and strong attacking pressure. Lucas’ ability to spread the field and move the ball quickly proved difficult to contain, with the goals flowing throughout the match.

Women’s v EGC Blue
The Lucas Women played out a thrilling 3-all draw with EGC Blue in one of the most entertaining contests of the round. It was a high-quality, fast-paced match from start to finish, with both teams generating strong attacking play and momentum swings throughout the game.
Lucas were outstanding defensively, with Emily Williams, Bella Jenkins and Annabelle Heal repeatedly standing tall under pressure and denying EGC scoring opportunities. Their composure with the ball and willingness to work hard defensively helped keep Lucas in the contest during crucial stages of the match.
Through the midfield, Zoe Klopak and Jo Shepherd once again led from the front, controlling long periods of play with smart passing and strong running. Liv Hargreaves and Issy Hiller provided plenty of energy around the contest.
Up forward, Poppy Staggard and Zara Staggard were dangerous throughout the match with their speed and attacking pressure creating headaches for the EGC defence. Lucas showed great composure and resilience across all four quarters to secure a well-earned draw against quality opposition.

Men’s Div 1 v EGC
The Lucas Men’s Div 1 side produced one of their strongest performances of the season with an impressive 4-1 victory over EGC. Lucas applied pressure early and never allowed EGC to settle, with Nic Jolly producing a series of quality saves in goals to keep Lucas in control whenever EGC threatened.
Ryan Geddes and Michael Churcher were outstanding in defence, repeatedly intercepting and rebounding the ball into attack, while the Lucas midfield worked tirelessly all game. Zoe Klopak and Glyn Kendall provided plenty of drive through the middle of the pitch, while Nathan Hargreaves, Lachie Hargreaves and Henry Beechey combined strongly to generate attacking momentum.
Up forward, Tom Batchelor, Gabe Pougnault and Traiyth Leffler kept constant pressure on the EGC defence, capitalising on the hard work being done further up the field. A disciplined and team-oriented performance saw Lucas take away a well-deserved win.
