At the AGM, all current committee positions will be declared vacant, with the current committee stepping down in accordance with our constitution. We will be seeking nominations to fill these positions for the upcoming term.

We are pleased to confirm that Meagan and Lawrence Collard have indicated they are willing to continue on; however, they will need the assistance and support of additional committee members to help with the ongoing operation and success of the club.

To support incoming committee members, a full handover will be provided, and the outgoing committee will remain available to assist where needed to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.

We strongly encourage all members and participants to consider nominating for a position or offering their support in any capacity. A strong and active committee is vital to the continued growth and sustainability of our club.

As we head into another season full of possibilities, I note that the Southside Chargers are again the largest domestic club in Rockingham. This season, we will see 27 teams take to the court proudly wearing the colours of our great club. This is no small feat and a testament to the phenomenal work put in by our wonderful volunteers. I especially would like to thank our club secretary Kristy Beard, Vice President Megan Collard and uniform co-ordinator Kate Brice for the countless hours they have put in putting teams together, getting training venues sorted and uniforms for teams organised. A special mention also goes to Jo Clossick for a lot of work organising pizzas for end of season windups and a lot of other things that don’t get noticed by players/parents.

This offseason has been quite challenging as we have tried to get everything organised for this upcoming season. What became apparent to me however, was that after two and a half years as the President of this great club, I no longer have the energy needed to do this role anymore. I have spent the last nine and a half years coaching which has seen me lucky enough to share in some amazing experiences with our players. I got to watch my son play in the first Southside Chargers team and have been privileged to have been the President of this club for the last two and half years. I have tried very hard to continue the great work started by our inaugural club President Steve Meyerkourt and while we may not have seen the on-court success of previous years, I believe our club has positioned itself to move from strength to strength over the next few years. And this club which has teams ranging from under 8’s all the way through to men’s will continue its mission of developing the best players possible and giving those players every opportunity to fulfill their basketball dreams. The club will also continue to develop the next generation of coaches and keep us moving to new heights.

As for me, as someone who loves this very special club and all it represents, it is time for me to hand the club over to new leadership. Someone who has the energy required to keep our club where it should be. We will have an election shortly and I’m sure the right person will present themselves. Until then, I remain committed to seeing the Southside Chargers be the club that all others aspire to be and that all other players want to represent.

It has been my great honour to have served as your president. I will always be the biggest supporter of this club.
