ROUND 9 REVIEW

The Saints celebrated their annual Past Players Day in style on Saturday, recording a 21-point victory over the Roleystone Tigers in Round 9 at Richard Guelfi Reserve.

Fielding a side featuring eight changes from the previous week, including League debutant Alliston Pickett, the Saints made a bright start. Michael Warrell opened the scoring in just the second minute before Shannon Taylor added another two minutes later. Roleystone responded with two quick goals midway through the quarter, but Alliston Pickett marked his debut with a goal in the 12th minute before Jayden Cappeau added another shortly after. At quarter time, the Saints led 4.1 (25) to 2.3 (15).

The second term proved a tighter contest. Jayden Cappeau kicked his second major after receiving a precise pass from Michael Warrell, while Scott Trickey's excellent ball use set up Keenan Indich for a goal that stretched the margin to 23 points. However, late goals from the Tigers reduced the deficit, with the Saints taking an 11-point lead into the main break, 6.4 (40) to 4.5 (29).

Roleystone continued to challenge after half-time, kicking the opening goal of the third quarter to cut the margin to less than a goal. The Saints responded through consecutive goals from Keenan Indich before Giarn Laurendi celebrated his first League goal, restoring a 23-point advantage. The Saints held a game-high 24-point lead at the final change, 9.7 (61) to 5.7 (37).

The Tigers mounted one final challenge in the opening minutes of the last quarter, kicking two quick goals to reduce the margin to 12 points. Michael Warrell responded with a crucial major to steady the Saints before Roleystone again closed the gap. Anthony Stephenson's goal at the 14-minute mark effectively sealed the result as Stirling secured an 11.12 (78) to 8.9 (57) victory.

Earlier in the day, the Reserves ended a 12-game drought to record their first win of the season, defeating Roleystone by 16 points. Key forward Rod Parfitt starred with a remarkable seven-goal performance.

PAST PLAYERS & SPONSORS DAY

A final reminder that our Past Players Day will be held tomorrow.

This year will be especially meaningful as we commemorate the anniversaries of five club premierships. The day will offer a chance to reflect on pivotal moments in our history and celebrate the achievements that have shaped the club’s legacy.

2026 marks the anniversary of the following Premierships:

30th Anniversary of Balcatta’s 1996 Premiership in WAAFL C-Grade. This was a historic victory, with Kevin Caton joining the Club as Coach and breaking a 13-year premiership drought.

40th Anniversary of Osborne Park’s 1986 Premiership in the Sunday Football League. Barry Beecroft’s leadership began a successful era in the late eighties, resulting in three premierships over five years.

50th Anniversary of Osborne Park’s 1976 League and Reserves Premiership Double in the West Australian Football Association.

60th Anniversary of Osborne Park’s first ever Reserves Premiership in the 1966 Sunday National Football League season.

The line-ups for these memorable premierships are displayed in the attached images. The Club would love to see as many players as possible from these five premiership-winning teams to join us for Past Players Day and share in the celebrations.

ROUND 9 PREVIEW

The Saints return home to Richard Guelfi Reserve this week for another crucial clash as we take on the Roleystone Tigers.

The day kicks off with the Reserves at 1:10pm. With both sides still searching for their first win of the 2026 season, there will be plenty of pride and determination on display.

Our League side then takes centre stage at 3:05pm, looking to put valuable distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Both teams have struggled to find consistency this season, making this an important contest that could have a significant impact on the final ladder standings.

The Thirds will enjoy a bye this week following Ballajura's withdrawal from E2 Grade earlier in the season.

We encourage all Saints supporters to get down to Richard Guelfi Reserve, make some noise, and help cheer the boys on to victory!
