With a full heart, we share the Balaklava Dojo has now closed. Kadina Dojo remains fully operational and preparing to welcome students for training in 2026.

Balaklava dojo has been more than a training hall. It has been a place of genuine connection. We are deeply grateful to each and every student who stepped onto the mats, and every parent who trusted us with their child’s journey. Your support has meant more than words can truly express. This decision was made thoughtfully as part of the club’s broader direction moving forward. While this chapter for Balaklava has come to an end we thank the local community for being an important part of our UMA story. It has been a privilege to teach, train, and grow alongside you.

Bring your clean gi, belt, and a drink bottle

✅ Trial students:
Wear comfy clothes, bring a drink bottle and be ready to give it a go!

👉 New to martial arts? keep your fire burning with a quick daily challenge (10 squats, 10 push-ups, 10 punches). Small effort, big momentum.

A massive congratulations to all the students who graded today! You’ve put in the time, sweat (and possibly a few bruises) and today you got to show us what you're made of. Well done.

Big thank you to Erica and Shepherd crew for keeping everyone fuelled with toastie snacks and warm drinks.

Thank you to parents, grandparents and spectators who came to cheer students on, your encouragement made a difference.

🥋 grading is almost here! 🥋

This Sunday, we’ll see you step onto the mats ready to show what you’ve been working hard for.

🕘 Registration opens 9:30am at Balaklava Dojo for 10am start. Don't miss registration or you can't grade.

Over the next few days, make time for practice. Every bit counts!

We’re proud of how far you’ve all come. Step out there with confidence, give it everything, and enjoy the experience.

🔥 Grading Info for August 17th 🔥
📍 Where: Balaklava Dojo, 14 Gwy Terrace. Balaklava High School Gym

🕤 Registration opens: 9:30am - 9:50am
🥋 Grading starts: 10:00am

What to Bring:
✅ Clean & ironed UMA uniform
✅ Current belt
✅ Sparring gloves & shin pads
✅ Water bottle
✅ Mouthguard (for adults)
Do not miss registration. Remember all your gear. You will not grade otherwise.

Toasties, cupcakes, lollies will be available for purchase.
