East Gippsland United Football Club East Gippsland United Football Club was founded in February 2009 and offers quality competitions

The club was formed to promote and develop the game of outdoor soccer (football) to meet the growing demand for “The World Game”. The decision was made in response to two years of research and development undertaken by a group of local enthusiasts who recognised the demand for football in East Gippsland. EGUFC is affiliated with the premier governing sports bodies for football in Australia, including Football Federation Australia (FFA), Football Federation Victoria (FFV) and the Latrobe Valley Soccer League (LVSL)

The club’s Mission Statement reflects it's basic philosophy:

“EGUFC is committed to the well-being and development of both players and football in East Gippsland. We will achieve this through applying a club philosophy of support, encouragement, enjoyment and participation for all members regardless of ability, experience, race, gender or age in a safe and supervised environment and in accordance with the Club Constitution”. EGUFC offers quality competitions, programs and events all year round for all groups of people regardless of age, gender, race, ability or experience.

BATTLE OF BRITAIN CUP – ROUND 2
MONASH v EGUFC 8 - 0

After a bye in the first round, East Gippsland United travelled to Newborough on Sunday to take on Monash in Round 2 of the Battle of Britain Cup.
It was always going to be a tough task with only 12 players making the trip.
Monash took control from the start, maintaining possession and locking the ball in their forward half.
With Monash going in hard, the Eagles had to fight for possession and time with the ball.
There were a few forays into the Eagles’ attacking half, only to be blocked by a solid Monash defence.
The Eagles’ defenders had a tough job trying to shut down the Monash attack and Eagles’ keeper Luke Merante was kept busy as Monash attacked the nets.
Despite their best efforts, the Eagles were down 3 – 0 going into the break.
The Eagles changed formation in the second half, trying to find the answers to stop the Monash assault.
Ryan Waller, Alex Davidson and Brendan Dunstan were all able to creating scoring chances but found it difficult to get through the Monash defence.
Shots that made it through were saved by the opposition keeper.
The Monash players had more composure on the ball, creating space and time to consistently break through the Eagles’ defence.
The Eagles continued to fight until the final whistle but Monash had a convincing win.

Last Sunday, we celebrated the achievement of two Men's Squad players - Adam Cheesley and Tom Forster - who have both played over 100 senior level games with the Eagles!
Both men also contribute as club volunteers behind the scenes so it's a great effort on both counts.
Congratulations!

ROUND 18 – SENIORS
EGUFC v TRARALGON CITY 2 – 2

It as a positive start for the Eagles.
Zeb McLeod scored just six minutes in, with the assist coming from Lachlan Feather and Ethan Shin.
The match was relatively even and both teams had plenty of time with the ball.
With the Eagles doing their best to maintain possession, they continued their attack but the Traralgon defenders blocked all attempts to get the ball through.
Feather was on target with his opportunities but these were saved by the keeper.
Traralgon’s attempts to bring the ball forward were blocked by the Eagles’ defenders.
But despite the Eagles’ best efforts, Traralgon managed to shoot the ball through to level the score just before half time.
Returning from the break, there were early chances for both sides.
The intensity was high and increasing with both teams wanting to break the deadlock.
The Eagles were able to create a number of scoring opportunities with Andrew Chapman, Feather and Shin all on the attack, and the Traralgon keeper stayed busy stopping all attempts on target.
At 73 minutes, McLeod was able to break through to score again, weaving his way through the defenders to send the ball forward.
The Traralgon keeper misjudged the ball and it slipped past for the Eagles’ second.
But the Eagles lead was short lived, with Traralgon following up with their second goal five minutes later.
Both teams kept up the fight right to the final whistle.
With no further score, the game finished as 2 – 2 draw.

ROUND 18 – RESERVES
EGUFC v TRARALGON CITY 1 – 1

Traralgon took the early lead in the Reserves’ match scoring ten minutes in.
A couple of early chances for the Eagles went over the top of the nets.
Brendan Dunstan and Ryan Waller worked hard up front creating scoring opportunities only to be denied by the Traralgon keeper.
Trying to lock the ball into their forward half, the Eagles midfield fed the ball forward to Dunstan and Waller.
The Eagles had more chances at scoring than the opposition but couldn’t break through the Traralgon defenders who consistently flooded the back line to stop the Eagles’ attack.
After the break, the game became increasingly physical as both teams tried to break through.
The Eagles used their substitutions to try to break the deadlock.
Finally at 80 minutes, Lachlan Feather was able to break through to level the score.
But with running out, neither team could break through in the final ten minutes and the game finished in a draw.
