Burlesque
What is Burlesque?
A Storm Studio’s Burlesque class explores differing styles of Burlesque dancing in an inclusive and welcoming way. Classes are fun and everyone is encouraged to approach the choreography in their own unique way.
What type of class is Burlesque, is it pole dance?
No, while the Burlesque classes are held in the pole room, the class is not a pole class. The burlesque class will sometimes include a chair, others it will be a floor/open routine. Some weeks there may be props like long gloves, fans or a boa.
In true Treasure (c)hunt fashion, this class will be a choose your own adventure with the class contributing to song choice, apparatus & props (gloves, heels, chair) and the vibe.
Do I need to bring heels to dance in?
Absolutely not! Some weeks, there will be dancers who will wear stilettos to help them get into the vibe of the dance. However, there are some dancer’s who choose never to wear heels. The choice is 100% yours.
Who is this class for?
This class is for current dancers, ex-dancers and non-dancers. You don’t need to know how to dance, and we absolutely do not use any technical dance language… this class is all about the vibe and just moving in a way that feels good for you.
Who teaches Burlesque?
Treasure cHunt! Treasure has been dancing at Storm for a few years now, starting as a student after decades of sitting on the couch and at a desk. Treasure is a personality-style Burlesque dancer who can be super cheeky. As a teacher though, Treasure knows first-hand the courage and bravery it takes to walk into a dance studio as an ‘older’ woman who hasn’t moved, danced or exercised much over a really long period of time and is not overly comfortable with the reflection in the mirror…. so she is also really supportive and teaches classes in a way that is inclusive, welcoming and non-judgmental.
