Jan Pianta School of Dance is considered one of the best in Victoria. We genuinely cater for the ‘thinking’ dancer to ‘bring out the best’ in your child – as has been quoted by many a satisfied parent over the years. All children love to dance, it is innate and natural so ‘the love of dance’ is not in question! What is done with the ‘love’ is! That is why we do it the best! So how do we do it bet

ter and differ from the other dance schools! Well, we develop the child through the understanding that solid technical training is vital from an early age. Effort and discipline from the student is also vital. The students can discover this theory through the many dance styles that are on offer – each progressive through various comprehensive syllabi. Our students do ‘enjoy’ working when they understand the theory! The principles we stand on have been achieved and worked and they are still being achieved and worked. All teachers are very professional, supportive and meet the needs of all students to stimulate their unique character and individual growth.

Correcting a dancer isn’t criticism.
It’s care.

Every adjustment at the barre.
Every reminder to straighten a leg.
Every correction of posture, placement and timing.

It all adds up.

Because the dancers who look effortless on stage didn’t get there by chance. They got there through guidance, consistency and teachers who refused to let them settle for “good enough.”

JPSD is thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievement of former classical ballet student Chloe Moulton.

After beginning her Cecchetti Ballet training with Jan at just 8 years old, Chloe has continued to excel through her full time studies at VCASS, completing Advanced 1 & 2 exams and developing as both a dancer and choreographer.

Chloe has now been named the 2026 Victorian winner of the prestigious Lucie Savanova Gold Medal Award, a major achievement within Cecchetti Ballet Australia. After performing in the finals before adjudicators from The Australian Ballet, Chloe earned the state title and will now travel to Sydney to compete at Nationals next month.

Chloe is the second JPSD dancer to win the Victorian state title, following Fletcher Stubbs many years ago, making this an incredibly proud moment for the JPSD family.

We are so proud of everything Chloe has achieved and wish her every success on the national stage. Bravo Chloe! 👏
