🥊🔥 MAT SPORTS DAY IS COMING! 🔥🥊

The countdown is on!

On Saturday October 17th, we’re bringing gyms from across Gippsland together for a huge day of MMA, Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai & Grappling — all on the mats!

This is about giving beginners and developing athletes the opportunity to step up, test themselves, gain experience and be part of something bigger. 💪

We’ve got teams coming from Bairnsdale, Sale, Traralgon and Moe, and we’re building a day that’s all about community, development and getting our next generation of athletes involved in combat sports in a safe and supportive environment.

🥊 KIDS MUAY THAI GRADING — WEDNESDAY

Wednesday afternoon was a fantastic afternoon for our Kids Muay Thai program, with the students putting everything they’ve been learning into practice for their grading.

A huge congratulations to every student who stepped up and gave it their best. Watching the kids develop not just their technique, but their confidence, discipline, focus and respect has been fantastic to see.

A special mention has to go to Coach Tammica Jade, who has done a spectacular job building and developing our Kids Muay Thai program. Her commitment, patience and ability to bring the best out of the kids has been outstanding.

The progress these kids have made is something they should all be incredibly proud of.

Well done everyone — keep working hard, keep learning and keep enjoying the journey. 🥊

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is about so much more than learning how to grapple.

🥊 WANT TO BE PART OF GIPPSLAND MAT SPORTS?

We’re looking for people who would like to put their hand up and become referees or judges for the Gippsland Mat Sports League.

And here’s the important part:

You don’t need to be a fighter.
You don’t need to be a coach.
You don’t need to own a gym.
You don’t even need previous combat sports experience.

If you have a genuine interest in combat sports, a good attitude and a willingness to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking at getting interested locals through the BoxSafe referee and judges courses, giving them the training and knowledge to officiate matches at a grassroots level.

WHY DO THIS?

Because we want Gippsland to become self-sufficient when it comes to running our own events.

We want to build a local pool of trained referees and judges who can help make these events happen.

Shows for Gippslanders, by Gippslanders.

More local officials means more opportunities for our young and developing fighters to compete right here in Gippsland, in front of their friends, families and local supporters.

It also gives you the chance to learn something new, meet people from across the local combat sports community and become part of something that is growing from the ground up.

You don’t have to want to be a referee for the rest of your life.

You don’t have to know everything about combat sports.

You just have to be willing to step up, learn and have a go.

We’ll help you get started.

🥊 A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE 44 GYM — TRARALGON 🥊

What an amazing youth sparring day!

A huge thank you to Steve and the crew The 44 Gym in Traralgon for putting on such a fantastic day. The atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, the students had a heap of fun, and most importantly, they all walked away having learned something and gained valuable experience.

Days like today aren’t about winners and losers — they’re all draws.
They’re about learning, developing skills, building confidence and gaining experience.

For beginners especially, these days are a fantastic way to experience the pressure and nerves that come with stepping into the ring, while doing it in a safe, controlled environment and under the guidance of good coaches.

And that’s exactly how we build a strong combat sports community.

There is something really special being built right here in Gippsland, thanks to grassroots opportunities like this and gyms willing to open their doors and give young athletes a place to learn and grow.

As we continue pushing towards a strong Gippsland combat sports scene built around good people, good gyms and good sportsmanship, today was a shining example of what is to come.

👏 Congratulations to every student who stepped into the ring today.

We know it’s scary. Getting in there, dealing with the nerves and putting your skills to work takes courage.

Every one of you showed great skill, composure and, above all, great sportsmanship.

You should all be proud of yourselves.
