It’s James Counihan’s birthday today 🎉 and this weekend he’s choosing to celebrate in a way that gives back in a big way.

On Saturday, James will be taking the plunge for Fight MND’s Big Freeze 12 at the Bairnsdale Football Netball Club, helping raise vital funds and awareness for Motor Neurone Disease research and support services.

If you were thinking of sending birthday wishes, James would genuinely appreciate a donation to help him reach his fundraising goal. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make a real difference.

This , we want to take a moment to recognise and thank all of the incredible people who support our Club and make cricket possible both on and off the field. 💙🏏

From our committee members, coaches, scorers, umpires, through to the many people behind the scenes who lend a hand whenever needed — our Club simply wouldn’t function without your time, effort and dedication.

Volunteers are the backbone of community sport, and we are incredibly grateful for every person who contributes to creating a welcoming and positive environment for our players, members and supporters.

A recent example of this community spirit came during preparations for our off-season wicket renovations. While the season may be over, the work certainly doesn’t stop.

After ordering soil from Northfield Soil in Western Victoria, we ran into some challenges with delivery and unloading.

Thanks to the team at Rowe Constructions (https://roweconstructions.com.au/) for allowing us to temporarily store the 1 tonne bags at their site, and a special thank you to Dan Eastman at Evergrow Landscapes for collecting and delivering the soil to our clubrooms.

As a volunteer-run club, we don’t always have access to the equipment or resources needed, so support like this makes a huge difference and is a great reminder of the strength of our local community.

To everyone who volunteers their time, skills and support — thank you. Our Club is stronger because of you. 🙌🏏

Our AGM was held on Wednesday 13 May, and we’re excited to officially announce our committee for the 2026/27 season.

We’re proud to have a strong team of nine committee members on board, all committed to continuing to build and strengthen the club for another big year ahead.

Leading the club this season is President James Counihan, supported by Vice President Tim Bull, Secretary Vanessa Hack and Treasurer Greg McCarrey.

Returning from last season are James, Vanessa, Greg, along with Dan Hack, Adrian Chila and Andy Webster, whose ongoing dedication and experience will continue to play an important role in the club’s success.

We’re also thrilled to welcome back Tim Bull, Chris Websdale and Paul Capes to the committee. While all three are returning after some time away, each has previously served on committee and brings valuable experience, fresh energy and a shared passion for making this season even better.

We would also like to sincerely thank outgoing committee members Charles Stansfield and Mick Mann for their hard work, commitment and contribution to the club. Their efforts have been greatly appreciated by everyone involved.

With a great balance of returning leadership and experienced past members stepping back in, the 2026/27 season is shaping up as an exciting one for the club.
