T20’s are here!🏏

Bagdad CC have two home T20’s, tonight (13/01) and tomorrow night (14/01), both games starting from 5:30pm!

Our canteen will be open (pies, toasties and saveloys available) and bar will be open from 5:00pm.

Come along for a great evening to support our teams!🙏🏼

We had another mixed results weekend, with our 2nd Grade boys unable to get over Knights CC, but our 7th Grade boys got the win over Derwent CC.🏏

2nd Grade - Knights CC 6/286 def Bagdad CC 9/212
Luke Hawkes scored 58 runs.
Blair Foster took 2/28 off 7 overs.
Ethan Seabourne took 3 catches in the field!

7th Grade - Bagdad CC 6/200 def Derwent CC 5/199
Samuel Coppleman scored 93 runs (a new Personal Best!)
Craig Dale took 2/17 off 8 overs.
Hamish Barron took 2/35 of 8 overs.

Our President, Arran, has summarised the 7th Grade win for those unable to make the game.

It wasn’t the start we wanted, losing the toss and having to bowl first. The ground was a bit damp from the rain the night before.
We started with a bang, though. An early run-out by myself and Brad Doering got us off to a flyer. Craig Dale coming on and knocking the pegs over saw Derwent at 2/51.
Derwent dug deep and put on 118 runs before the Hammer (Hamish Barron) came back on, taking another two wickets, with Derwent finishing on 5/199.

Liam Atkinson and Sam Coppleman opened and got us off to a good start before Liam was caught for 13. Craig Dale, Jack Gordon, Hamish Barron, and Max Finlayson came out with Sam and put on 133 runs collectively before Sam was bowled on 93. Brad Doering and young James Stanley got us over the line in the 36th over, finishing at 6/200.
It was one of the best chase downs I’ve seen in a long time!🏏

We have a busy weekend ahead of us with a double header!
Our 2nd Grade boys take on Knights CC at home on Saturday, while our 7th Grade team face Derwent CC on Sunday.🏏

Our Canteen will be open all day with the bar opening at 12:00 (both days).

Unfortunately our boys had a tough weekend, although we had no wins, our boys showed determination until the last ball.🏏

2nd Grade - Richmond/Cambridge CC 6/182 def Bagdad CC 10/180
Alex Langridge scored 41 runs.
Barry Davenport scored 31 runs.
Luke Denne took 2/15 off 10 overs

7th Grade - Claremont CC 9/158 def Bagdad CC 9/113 (DLS)
Riley Brockman scored 16 runs.
Michael Visser scored 16 runs.
James Stanley scored 15 runs not out.
Samuel Coppleman took 5/11 off 8 overs (5 maiden overs)👏🏼
Hamish Barron took 3/41 off 8 overs.

We have our first home game for the season tomorrow (Saturday), our 2nd Grade boys take on Richmond CC. Our 7th Grade team take on Claremont CC at Claremont Oval on Sunday!🏏

Our canteen will be open all day Saturday with the bar opening at 12:00pm.

We’d love to see some support from our community for our reigning premiers on Saturday!🏏

We had another mixed results weekend, with our 2nd Grade boys unable to get over St Annes CC, but our 7th Grade boys smashing Risdon Brook CC out of the park (literally!).🏏

Luke Hawkes scored 21 runs.
Barry Davenport took 5/34 off 10 overs!

7th Grade - Bagdad CC 5/118 def Risdon Brook CC 6/117
Samuel Coppleman scored 61 runs!
Hayden Zantuck took 3/26 off 8 overs.
Rowan Figg took 2/24 off 8 overs.
Max Finlayson took 1/23 off 6 overs.

It was a great start to the day, with Bagdad winning the toss and sending Risdon Brook into bat. A couple of quick wickets to Hayden Zantuck had us off to a flyer. Risdon Brook then settled, but a change of bowling saw Max Finlayson break the partnership. Rowan Figg came on and grabbed a couple of wickets , with Hayden finishing things off. Risdon Brook ended their 40 overs at 6/117.

Liam Atkinson and Sam Coppleman opened for us, with Liam dismissed in a very unusual run out for 7. Craig Dale came in and made a quick 19, followed by Sam with an impressive 61. James Stanley was unlucky to go for a duck, but Brad Doering and Rowan guided us home in the 26th over.

Our boys had mixed results for Round 1 this weekend. We’d like to acknowledge the many club debutants, you all showed some true Bagdad energy, we can’t wait to watch you all throughout the season!🏏

Taran Martin took 4/48 off 10 overs.

On Saturday, our 2nd Grade boys will take on Old Beach CC at Old Beach. While our 7th Graders take on Montagu Bay CC at Geilston Bay on Sunday!🏏

As a mark of respect to fellow cricketer, Ben Austin, who tragically passed away earlier this week, both our teams will be wearing black arm bands.💚💛
