🦁 ONE SEASON ENDS… THE NEXT ONE BEGINS 🦁

As another season starts to draw to a close, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has played a part in making 2026 another fantastic year for our club.

To our coaches, assistants, team managers, committee members, volunteers, parents, guardians, families, sponsors and supporters, thank you. Whether you’ve coached a team, cut oranges, waved a flag, worked in the canteen, washed jumpers, marked an oval, driven kids to training or simply stood on the sidelines in maroon and gold cheering them on, you are what makes this club work.

Most importantly, thank you to our players. The growth, friendships, development and memories created throughout the year are what junior football is all about. ❤️💛

But we’re not quite finished yet…

🏉 PRELIMINARY FINAL SATURDAY – PAYNE PARK

We still have HBL teams fighting for a place in the Grand Final this Saturday!

We’d love to see our HBL community get behind them. Pull on the maroon and gold, get down to Payne Park and make some noise for every HBL team taking the field.

And while season 2026 is coming to an end, planning for season 2027 starts now.

This year’s AGM is particularly important, with several key positions needing to be filled, including:

• President
• Player Registrar
• Club Registrar

Craig and Jo have both been absolutely incredible in their respective roles and have given an enormous amount to our club. We cannot thank them enough for the time, energy and passion they have invested, but the time has come for the next generation of volunteers to step forward.

It takes an army to run a junior football club.

These aren’t just titles on a committee, they are important roles that help make sure our club operates and, ultimately, that our kids get to play football.

If you have development at heart, believe in creating opportunities for every child, want to help us continue building an inclusive, welcoming and progressive junior football club, and want to be part of the community that makes HBL so special, we would love to see you put your hand up.

You don’t need to know everything on day one. You just need to care, be willing to contribute and want to make a difference.

Our club is only as strong as the people willing to stand behind it.

Thank you for an incredible 2026.

🦁 A Huge Thank You… & One Small Favour!

We hope all of our junior footballers and families had an amazing day yesterday celebrating the 2026 season. What a fantastic way to recognise the friendships, fun and memories that made this year so special.

We do have one small favour to ask our wonderful community…

Unfortunately, around 20 footballs have gone missing from our on-field activities throughout the day. We’re sure many have simply made their way home by accident!

If you happen to find an HBLJFC football at home, could you please return it to the club or hand it to your team’s coach? Every football helps us prepare for another great season in 2027.

🦁 WHAT A SEASON 🦁

22 teams. 291 games. Hundreds of moments, memories and opportunities to grow.

And just like that, the 2026 Home & Away season is a wrap for our junior football program! 💛❤️

But a season is about so much more than what happens on the scoreboard.

It’s about development. Achievement. Belonging. Growth.

It’s about kids finding confidence they didn’t know they had. Learning to be part of something bigger than themselves. Learning to support each other, face challenges, celebrate each other’s achievements and keep showing up. It’s friendships made, lessons learned and memories that will last long after the final siren. 🏉

To our parents, guardians and families, THANK YOU.

For the countless kilometres driven, the early mornings, the oranges cut, the flags waved, the jumpers washed, the volunteering and everything else in between. Without our incredible families and community, our kids simply wouldn’t get the experience they do.

To our coaches, assistant coaches, team managers and helpers, never underestimate the impact you have.

Football might be the tool that brings our kids together, but what you provide goes far beyond football. You give them guidance, encouragement, belonging, a safe place to learn and an environment where they can simply have fun and be kids.

You help shape young people. ❤️

To our committee and executive team, an enormous thank you.

The hours that go on behind the scenes are remarkable. With a junior club our size, it genuinely takes everyone pulling in the same direction. So much work happens that most people will never see, but without it, 291 games of junior football simply don’t happen.

And most importantly…

🦁 TO OUR JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS…WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU! 🦁

You have played with spirit.
You have listened.
You have learned.
You have challenged yourselves.
You have supported your teammates.
And you have grown.

That is what junior football is all about.

We hope every one of you finishes 2026 a little more confident, a little more connected, with new friendships, new skills and a love of being part of our great game and we can’t wait to see you back in 2027!

But… we’re not quite finished yet. 👀🔥

For our older age groups, FINALS HAVE ARRIVED!

And what an achievement…

🏉 9 out of a possible 10 eligible teams will continue their football journey into the 2026 Finals Series! 🏉

Another opportunity to play together, grow together, challenge ourselves and represent our club with the spirit and values we have carried throughout the season.

Now it’s time to get behind them, fill the sidelines with MAROON & GOLD and enjoy every moment! 💛❤️🦁

Because they say “it takes a village to raise a child.”…At our club, it takes an army of volunteers, families, coaches, helpers and supporters to give 22 teams of young people a place to belong.

And when that army comes together, junior football becomes so much more than a game.

One club. One community. One pride. 🦁
