Or as my meditation teacher says “what you focus on is what you get”!
During the very long lockdown we had in Melbourne last year I was stuck in thoughts about how lonely it was not being able to go anywhere, how stressful my situation was, how bad I was feeling physically. But all that happened was, I got stressed more easily, felt worse and my health deteriorated even more…. I was focussing on how bad I was feeling and that is exactly what I got more of.
What are you focusing on right now?
Are your thoughts mainly positive, creating positive emotions that energise you to move forward in life? If that is the case then GREAT, notice it and keep doing what is working for you.
Or, are your thoughts mainly negative, creating negative emotions that leave you feeling down and stuck. If this is you, then notice what is going on and ask yourself “is this working for me?”
It is not always easy to change our thoughts, especially as most of the time we are not even aware of what we are thinking. So take some time to notice how you are feeling and what you are thinking, then ask yourself “how can I think about this differently?”
Try to be present and grateful for what you have right now and see what shifts for you…
