A Boddington teenager has returned from training with a world champion bull rider in Texas.

After winning the Australian Under-14 Steer Riding title, 14-year-old Hunter Ross was selected to travel to Texas and train with World Champion Bull Rider Cody Custer.

Mr Ross started bull riding around three years ago and hasn’t looked back.

“I just thought it would be a little thing, but it's just gotten bigger; I didn’t expect it to happen,” he said.

Mr Ross said the sport is 90 per cent mental strength.

“To be honest, you don't really think about what you're doing, you just do it,” he said.

“It’s pretty dangerous, I can't lie; the adrenaline rush is pretty cool."

Mr Ross said it was nice to return home after the experience.

Results from the weekend:
Kayla - placed 4th in U18 bending with Apple.
Jake - placed in the top 10 in U14 barrels on Apple and 2nd 🥈 in his 11-U14 mini bull.
Lane - disqualified in U8’s barrels on Womby…but still feels he’s a winner! 😅🤠🤣

Happy birthday to our oldest son Jake! Not a bad way to spend his birthday weekend, taking out a tie for first place in the 11-U14 mini bull ride last night at the Ingham Sugar City Rodeo! 🥇🤠🎂
