A big 2nd day for Myarah Ahoy at the Nsw Little Athletics Championships, as she finished 6th in NSW in the u9 girls 200m final.

This is her heat run where Myarah (far right) smashed out a huge PB of 31.84.

Myarah also finished 9th in the 60m hurdles, and 17th in the high jump, all before her 200m final.

20/03/2021

Congratulations to Viper Squad Community member Myarah Ahoy, who has run the two fastest 100m races of her life in terrible conditions to finish 4th in NSW in the u9 girls 100m at the Little Athletics State Championships today.

Myarah won her heat in a PB of 15.30 and then held her composure as there were two false starts in the final and another competitor was disqualified, and still got a super quick start, finishing in 15.33 for 4th place.

Myarah will also compete in the hurdles, high jump and 200m tomorrow.

Day 3 VRT Results from the NSW Junior Championships

As the light faded on an 11hour long, cold and soggy day at the track, Tom Bible sent the Viper Squad Racing Team home on a high note, successfully clocking the only personal best of the days terrible racing conditions.

In the 3000m, a race was scheduled to run fresh on Friday night, after the storm pushed the race to Sunday night Tom had to backup from his 1500m personal best the previous day.

Tom was up to the task though, slicing a massive 10seconds off the time he ran just two weeks ago, clocking 9:42.07 to place 12th in NSW.

The new personal best moves Tom from 12th up to 9th on the Armidale Athletics Clubs All-Time best on record list.

Day 3 VRT Results from the NSW Junior Championships

Caleb Bettison’s u17 3000m final was originally scheduled to run on Friday evening, but after a storm forced an end to that nights program, was rescheduled for Sunday evening.

This meant that , if he wanted to run the 3000m, would have to back up after his massive effort in the 2000m steeplechase earlier in the day.

Caleb took his place in the field, and hung with the leaders in the first KM, splitting around 3:03.

In the second KM, Caleb started to feel the pinch, getting shaken from lead pack and having to run solo for most of the rest of the race, before finishing strongly in the last lap to clock 9:24.16, good enough for 10th in NSW.

Day 3 VRT Results from the NSW Junior Championships

After battling injuries during preparation, Jordan Pattison was restricted to just one event at this years Championships; an all or nothing blast at the u17 mens 800m final.

Considering the limited preparation, had a great run in the tough conditions, setting his race up with a first lap of 58.17 - only 3 seconds slower than his 400m PB(!).

Jordan held on as best he could in the run to the line, with his finishing time of 2:02.66 just 0.2 off his personal best.

Jordan’s time placed him 8th in NSW in an incredibly high quality field.

Day 3 VRT Results from the NSW Junior Championships

In the cold, wet and windy conditions, personal best times were almost impossible to come by on day 3, but Ameilie Stone came very close, missing her personal best by just 0.02 in the u14 girls 800m finals.

Ameilie clocked a time of 2:35.49, which placed her 18th in NSW among the field of 29 competitors.

Day 3 VRT Results from the NSW Junior Championships

Emerson Fittler was backing up after his silver medal in the 400m, and almost added second medal to his weekend in the u18 200m event.

refocused after a hiccup in the blocks during the heats, to win his heat comfortably in a time of 23.36 into a -1.7ms headwind.

For the final the wind was stronger (-2.4ms), but Emerson went faster (23.06), securing a 4th place finish just 0.11 out of the bronze.

Day 3 VRT results from the NSW Junior Championships.

Yesterday was a horrible day conditions wise to try and compete in, and for Caleb Bettison’s u17 2000m steeplechase, with his ability to glide through the water jump, was easily getting wetter from what was happening away from the water jump than when he was in it.

The driving rain throughout the race made things tough, but Caleb was tougher, as he got to the bell with a pack of 4 other athletes racing for medals.

In a combined race with the u18 age group, by the last lap all race and hip numbers had melted off the athletes in the rain, and not even Caleb was sure which athletes he was racing for medals.

The safest thing to do was just beat them all, and he did, running away from the one u17 and three u18 athletes who were with him at the bell, to take the silver medal in his age division and clock a time of 6:33.57.

In Caleb’s first race over the 84cm steeples, the time will qualify him for the u18 event at the 2022 Australian Athletics Championships.

Day Two VRT Results from the NSW Junior Championships.

Sienna Dellow raced in the u16 100m event and today put in an incredible performance.

In the heats, clocked her 2nd best time to date; 12.78, but she stumbled after the finishline and crashed hard to the track.

After losing plenty of skin and nursing several bumps and bruises, Sienna took her place in the final, and flew up the straight to finish 6th in NSW in an amazing time of 12.60.

The time was a new personal best, qualifies Sienna for the u17 100m at the 2022 Australian Championships, and is the fastest, wind legal, electronically timed 100m on record ever by a female from the Armidale Athletics Club.
