🏑 2026 HNE GRAND FINALS ARE SET, LOCKED & LOADED! 🏆

It all comes down to Sunday 20th September!
We’ve got a huge day planned with some amazing hockey on show, games and activities for the kids, and cracking food from the canteen! 🙌

The action gets underway from 9:30am, with our Women’s 3rd Grade Grand Final first cab off the rank, followed by a full day of Grand Final hockey right through to the Men’s A Grade at 3:30pm.

💙 Bring the family, wear your club colours, get behind the teams and help us create an awesome atmosphere for the final day of the 2026 HNE season!

🏆 2026 HNE Presentations will follow the conclusion of the Men’s A Grade Grand Final.

🏑 WE NEED YOUR HELP – TERM 4 TWILIGHT HOCKEY

Hockey New England is still seeking a Twilight Convenor for our Term 4 competition.

This doesn’t have to be one person! We’d love to hear from an individual or a small group of people who may be happy to share the role and help keep Twilight Hockey running.

The role includes managing team nominations, working with Finance regarding team fees, organising the draw and umpires, and being present during competition to help ensure everything runs safely and smoothly.

⚠️ Unfortunately, if we don’t have someone to facilitate Twilight, the competition will not be able to go ahead in Term 4.

It all comes down to this! 🔥 The 2026 HNE Senior Finals are here, with one last opportunity for these teams to secure their place in the Grand Final! 🏆

We’ve got some fantastic match-ups across the Men’s and Women’s competitions, so get out to the fields and support your club, cheer on your team, or simply come along and watch some spectacular hockey! 💙🏑

A huge congratulations to Nathan Czinner on re-signing with NSW Pride

From his beginnings right here in Armidale and Hockey New England, to continuing to compete at the highest level of Australian hockey, it is incredibly special to see one of our own achieving at this level.

Nathan is a fantastic example for our young players of where hard work, dedication and a love of the game can take you.

Congratulations to all of our teams who have made it through to this weekend’s Grand Finals!

We’re looking forward to a great day of hockey and would love to see plenty of supporters out at the turf cheering on our junior teams and wearing your club colours with pride.

A big thank you to all our players, coaches, umpires, and parents for another great junior hockey season.

🏑 SEMI FINALS ARE HERE! 🏑

Congratulations to all of our senior teams who have made it through to the 2026 Semi Finals! 👏

Finals action kicks off this Friday night with our Men’s A Grade, before continuing across the weekend.

As we head into finals, we want to say a massive thank you to all of our clubs, teams and players for your support throughout the season. Your communication, cooperation and support has been truly appreciated and has helped make the season what it has been. 💙

A special thank you to Michelle, who took on the enormous job of getting both our Men’s and Women’s competitions up and running at the beginning of the year.

To Lisa and our Umpires Committee, thank you for the countless hours spent making sure our games have umpires each week.

And of course, a HUGE thank you to every one of our umpires — whether you’ve returned to the whistle this year, continued to support our competitions week after week, or stepped onto the field to umpire for the very first time. We simply couldn’t run our competitions without you. 👏

Finally, to each and every player who has taken the field this season, we hope you’ve had an amazing year and enjoyed being part of hockey in New England.

To those still in the finals contest — play hard, play fair, support your teammates and, most importantly, have fun!

The road to the Grand Final continues!

Check out this week’s finals draw below 👇

A huge well done to all the teams who have made it through to the finals series. We can’t wait to see some great hockey over the next few weeks!

We also want to say a big congratulations and thank you to all of our junior teams who have finished their season. Thank you to the players, coaches, managers, parents and supporters who have made this such a wonderful season of junior hockey.
If your team hasn’t made it through to finals and you’re around, we’d still love to see you at the turfs cheering everyone on! Whether it’s friends from your club, school friends or mates you’ve met through other sports, come down and show them your support.

PLEASE NOTE: Our U8s and Little Cubs will continue playing for the next three weeks, so there is still plenty of junior hockey to come!

We’ll wrap up our Junior season on Saturday, 12 September with our Grand Final games, followed by a BBQ and Junior Presentation to celebrate all of our junior players, from Little Cubs and U8S right through to our Grand Final teams.

The Semi Final, Final and Grand Final schedules are now confirmed, with some fantastic hockey ahead over the next few weeks.

📅 Semi Finals: 4–6 September
📅 Finals: 11–13 September
🏆 Grand Final Day: Sunday 20 September

Please check the relevant schedule for your division for game times and turf allocations.

🏅 HNE Annual Awards will also be presented following the Men’s A Grade Grand Final on Grand Final Day. We’d love to see plenty of our HNE community stick around to help celebrate our 2026 award recipients.

A huge thank you to all of our clubs, players, coaches, managers, umpires, volunteers and supporters for the positivity, communication and support throughout the season. It takes a whole hockey community to make our competitions happen each week, and we genuinely appreciate everyone who has played a part. 💙

🧠 CONCUSSION – IF IN DOUBT, SIT THEM OUT

Looking after our hockey community means looking after each other — players, coaches, umpires, officials, parents and supporters all have a role to play when it comes to concussion.

A concussion isn’t always obvious, and a player does not need to lose consciousness or even hit their head to have sustained a concussion.

If signs or symptoms are observed or reported:
🏑 Stop play
🏑 Remove the player from the field
🏑 Do not allow them to return to play that day
🏑 Seek appropriate medical assessment
🏑 When in doubt — sit them out

Most importantly, we want our players to feel comfortable speaking up when something doesn’t feel right. No game is more important than a player’s health and wellbeing.

💙 It’s OK to say you’re not OK. Let’s continue to look out for our teammates, our opposition and everyone within our hockey community.
