⭐️Come and Try Day with Armidale Athletics Club⭐️

Have you ever wanted to give athletics a go? Now's your chance!

Whether you're a future Olympian or just looking for a fun way to get active, our Come & Try Days are the perfect opportunity to experience everything Armidale Athletics Club has to offer. Bring the whole family along for two afternoons packed with running, jumping, throwing, games, and plenty of fun in a welcoming and supportive environment.

No experience? No worries! These sessions are designed for all ages and abilities, so everyone is welcome to join in.

📣 IMPORTANT FOR RETURNING ATHLETES

Due to updated insurance requirements, athletes who have been registered with Armidale Athletics Club in a previous season must be registered for the 2026–27 season BEFORE attending a Come & Try session.

Come & Try is designed to allow new athletes to experience athletics before registering. Previous-season athletes are not covered to participate through Come & Try and therefore need to complete their 2026–27 registration first, but we'd still love to see you down there!

✅ Meet our friendly committee, coaches, age managers and volunteers

✅ Learn what our summer athletics season is all about

A very Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, grandads, stepdads, father figures and special people across our Armidale Athletics Club community! 🏃‍♂️

We hope you’ve all had a wonderful day with your families.

We also want to give a special Father’s Day shout-out to some of our committee dads who gave up part of their special day today to head down to Harris Park and get a start on remarking the entire track and field layout ready for the new season. 📏🎨🏃

There’s a lot of work that happens behind the scenes to get Harris Park ready for our athletes each season, and we’re incredibly grateful to the volunteers who give up their time to make it happen — especially on a day like today! 💛

And speaking of the new season… registrations for the 2026–27 season are OPEN! 🎉

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ ONE LAST RUN – WINTER CROSS COUNTRY FINALE! 🎉💛💚

Tomorrow afternoon we officially wrap up our 2025–26 Winter Cross Country Series with our FINAL round! 🏁

It’s been another fantastic winter of running, PBs, muddy shoes, chilly afternoons, blue skies, the occasional downpour 🌧️ and plenty of determined runners making their way around the SportUNE course each week.

While our field was a little smaller this winter, it created a wonderfully relaxed and friendly series, with plenty of familiar faces returning week after week and some new runners joining our athletics community along the way. Sometimes it’s not about the size of the field—it’s about keeping opportunities like this available for our local athletes, and we’re very proud to have done exactly that. 💛💚

👏 A HUGE thank you to Ben, Mark and Sue, who stepped up as new Winter Cross Country convenors this year and helped us keep this fantastic part of our athletics calendar going. These programs simply don’t happen without volunteers willing to give their time, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything you’ve done this season!

📣 EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR OUR 13–19 YEAR OLD ATHLETES! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We’re excited to share that the Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) Athletics Program is returning for the 2026/27 season! 🌟

For the first time in several years, NIAS will once again offer an Athletics Program – giving talented and developing athletes from across the Northern Inland access to specialist coaching, intensive training weekends and athlete development opportunities.

The program is open to athletes aged 13–19 years, across track and field disciplines, including able-bodied and para-athletes.

Working alongside the North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS), the program is designed to complement the coaching athletes already receive through their local club and coaches, while providing further development in areas including:

🏃 Technical event development
💪 Strength & conditioning and physical preparation
🥗 Sports nutrition
🧠 Sports psychology
💚 Athlete wellbeing
🎯 Long-term athlete development and pathways

The program will include three intensive training weekends in Coffs Harbour, Tamworth and Ballina, with the Ballina weekend operating as a live-in camp.

🌧️🏃‍♀️ Winter Cross Country Series – Round 12 🏃‍♂️🌧️

Can you believe we're already up to Round 12? That means there's just TWO weeks to go in this year's Winter Cross Country Series!

Last week (Round 11) was a little quieter than usual after the heavens opened just before we were due to start. 🌧️ Despite the prospect of running in the rain, our dedicated runners still turned up ready to go. Thankfully, as quickly as the rain arrived, it disappeared again, leaving us with beautiful blue skies... although wow, it was cold! 🥶

A huge congratulations to everyone who braved the conditions—we love seeing the determination and commitment our runners continue to show each week.
