To all of our incredible AGC gymnasts,
As we reflect on our first competition of the year at the South West Challenge, Our first regional competition in a very long time. I want you all to know just how immensely proud I am of every single one of you.
Not because of medals. Not because of scores. Not because of placings.
I am proud because of the way you showed up for each other.
Throughout the entire weekend, every achievement—no matter how big or small—was celebrated. Teammates cheered for one another, friendships grew stronger, new friendships were created, and the support you showed each other was something truly special.
So many clubs approached us throughout the competition to compliment AGC. They praised the improvement they had seen in our gymnasts, the kindness our athletes showed to gymnasts from other clubs, and the incredible cheering, encouragement and positive energy coming from our crowd.
We arrived in a flood of orange and black, and we showed up loud and proud with nothing but laughter, smiles and pride for one another.
There were so many moments that reminded me what makes AGC special. But these were my favourites,
🧡 Our State 2 gymnasts noticed a gymnast from another club competing on her own and cheered for her just as loudly as they cheered for each other. They made sure she knew that even though she was the only competitor from her club, she wasn’t alone.
🖤 Our solo State 5 gymnast pushed through her nerves and introduced herself to gymnasts from Infinity Gymnastics. By the end of the competition they were sharing hugs, celebrating each other’s achievements and even giving one another pep talks before awards. The friendship and leadership she showed made me incredibly proud.
🧡 Our State 4 gymnasts spent the entire competition smiling, laughing and cracking jokes with the judges. They reminded us all that judges are gymnastics-loving people just like the rest of us and that showing them your routines should be enjoyed not feared. They didn’t let tiny mistakes take away from their experience and embraced every moment with confidence and joy.
🖤 Our State 1 gymnasts shared their fidget toys with gymnasts from Narrogin and made new friends in the process. They showed kindness, courage and confidence by introducing themselves to new faces and welcoming others into their circle.
These moments are what I will remember most.
Medals tarnish. Scores get forgotten. Results sheets eventually get packed away. But kindness, courage, sportsmanship, friendship and team spirit are the things that truly matter, and this weekend you represented Armadale Gymnastics Club in the best possible way.
Thank you for making me so proud to be your Head Coach. Congratulations on an amazing start to the season. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for this incredible team and our club gymnasts who will join the competition season soon. 🧡🖤
Love from your biggest cheerleader, Alicia - Head Coach
