Get on court for Racquetball at Kooyong 🔵

With the Australian Open Racquetball Championships coming to Kooyong this October, there’s never been a better time to give racquetball a go or sharpen up your game.

Join us every Sunday from 9:00-10:15am for our Sunday Racquetball Squad led by Alex Baines and the Kooyong coaching team.

Whether you’re completely new to racquetball, already playing regularly or preparing to compete in the Australian Open, all levels are welcome. The sessions are open to both Kooyong members and non-members.

Vale John Link

Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club’s Squash & Racquetball community is saddened by the passing of long-time member and wonderful supporter of squash, John Link, who passed away on Friday 21 August.

John was an extraordinarily generous supporter of Kooyong Squash and the wider squash community in Victoria over many years.

His contribution went well beyond his support of the sport itself. John took a particular interest in supporting young athletes and generously sponsored players to become members of Kooyong and pursue their squash at the Club.

His contribution is also recognised through the John Link Trophy, which has been presented annually to the best and fairest Kooyong Squash Scholarship athlete. It is a fitting legacy for someone who cared deeply about supporting the next generation of players.

John will be remembered with great affection and appreciation by the many players and members whose lives he touched through his generosity and passion for squash.

Our thoughts are with John’s wife Anne, his family and friends at this sad time.

🏆Ballarat Open Champion🏆

A huge congratulations to Sarah Cardwell, who claimed the 2026 Ballarat Open PSA title today!

Seeded No. 1, Sarah produced a dominant performance, defeating India’s Sanya Vats in straight sets to take home the title.

It was also a strong tournament for Kooyong’s other competitors:

👉🏼 Tina Ma continued her impressive form after the World Junior Championships, upsetting the No. 3 seed before reaching the semifinals, where she met Sarah.

👉🏼 Sid Ramani battled hard in a four-game opening-round match against Hong Kong’s Anson Wong.

A great tournament for our Kooyong athletes, highlighted by Sarah’s title win. Congrats, Sarah!

One tight finish. 🤯

The 2026 Winter Hashes came down to the top-of-the-table playoff between Kooyong Team 1 (Matho) and GPHC Team 1 (Mortland)…

🏆 2 matches all.
📊 212 points each.

A perfect draw.

After five weeks of competitive squash, close finishes, post-match suppers and plenty of friendly rivalry, we simply couldn’t separate the two teams.

With the final ending in a perfect draw, we couldn’t bring ourselves to separate the winners either. Instead, every Winter Hashes participant has been rewarded with FREE group squad sessions throughout August across both Kooyong and Grace Park Hawthorn Club.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, refereed, kept score and embraced the spirit of the competition. It was fantastic to see players from both clubs getting to know each other, enjoying some great squash and creating a rivalry that’s competitive on court but friendly off it.

Congratulations to everyone involved, we’re already looking forward to Winter Hashes 2027! 💙💚

👏 Great to see our Kooyong Junior Squad players competing at Sunday’s Junior Bronze Tournament at Grace Park Hawthorn Club!

A special congratulations to:

🥇 Bowen Pan – Division 3 Champion, winning his first junior tournament title!

🥇 Hannah Zhang – Division 4 Champion, winning her first junior tournament title!

💪 Jasper Zhang – A strong performance competing in Division 4.

⭐ Gabby Wu – Congratulations on recording a win in her first ever junior tournament!

We’re proud of all our juniors for getting out there, competing, and continuing to improve. Well done everyone! 👏🎉

Looking to get your child involved in squash? Our new Junior Social Squash sessions start next week, running every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:45-6:00pm. Open to all junior players, these fun, supervised sessions are a great way to meet new friends, play matches and improve your game.

🌏 Kooyong Members Shine in Hong Kong! 🇭🇰🏆

Several Kooyong members recently competed in the Endowus Wealth Hong Kong Masters Open at the Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC), one of Kooyong’s reciprocal clubs, taking on some of the region’s best age-group players.

⭐ The standout result came from Kim Graham, who claimed the Women’s 35+ title, defeating Li Leanne Gi-Ming in the final to go one better than her runner-up finish last year. A fantastic achievement!

Also representing Kooyong were:

👏 Richard Bowman – 4th place in the Men’s 70+ division

👏 Toby Tomlin – Quarter-finalist and 7th overall in a highly competitive Men’s 50+ draw

👏 Fr Abanoub Attalla – Represented Kooyong in the Men’s 60+ division

Congratulations to all four players on representing Kooyong so proudly on the international stage🇦🇺💙💚

A big week for Kooyong Squash & Racquetball, with two Kooyong pennant teams crowned Grand Final winners🏆

Congratulations to our E2 side, captained by Jim Pappas, and our D1 side, captained by Russell Jansen, who both won their Grand Finals this week.

A big congratulations to all players involved, and thank you to our captains for all their hard work throughout the season.
