Greetings Comrades , here is an update for you. You know that place where we used to play darts. Of course you do, well we are not playing Darts there anymore. The Committee have met and are looking at a couple of possible venues. We will keep everyone updated when we find out more. Hasta La Vista cohorts.

Greetings Comrades. Here is an update on DARTS at The Leo. At this point in time it seems that this venue will not be suitable for us to continue playing competition DARTS there. It’s unfortunate but “It is what it is”. The committee will be meeting in the near future to discuss our next move. Enjoy the rest of your week cohorts and remember “Mailboxes drip like lamposts in the twisted birth canal of the coliseum” .

An update on the reno's at The Leo - Leopold Hotel Ararat. The wall has been taken away, however we may need to move one or two boards to accommodate the 8 ball tables. It is anticipated that we will start the next comp in the next few weeks.

Meet The Players #1: Frank Parker.

During the week Grampians Super League Darts caught up with the legendary Frank Parker to ask the hard questions and find out what really makes this player tick……

GSLD: Firstly Frank, thanks for giving up some of your valuable time.

FRANK: Make it quick, I’ve got a business to run and darts fixtures to sort out.

GSLD: Of course.

Question 1: At what age did you throw your first dart?

FRANK: By memory, maybe 9 or 10? Months old that would be. A family member tried to turn my night light off and I threw at dart at him. Funny enough, I hit a triple 20💁.

GSLD: What weight of dart do you prefer?

FRANK: I tend to prefer anything from 12gram darts through to 50gram darts.

GSLD: How often do you practice playing darts?

FRANK: Does it look like I need to practice? Stop wasting my time or this interview will be over😡.

GSLD: Pre darts night routine?

FRANK: Eye fillet steak around 5pm washed down with a glass of Penfolds Grange. Bu**er the cost of living crisis.

GSLD: Final question: Toughest opponent on the oche?

FRANK: Probably the night I beat Phil Taylor at the Ally Pally back in 2018 while holidaying abroad. Notice he retired after that?

The final night of darts for the current comp was held on Wednesday night, with Division 2 having 3 scheduled games, The Wizard showing no mercy having a 7-0 win over a competitive Laura. Regan and the ever improving Ryan played out a classic, with Regan getting home by 1 game, 4-3. Disappointing that Anthony was again unavailable, costing him taking out top spot in Division 2. Take nothing away from Nic finishing top, well deserved for great darts and reliability.

Division 1 played a doubles round robin, and apart from Franks 180, very little to report here. Bruce might be removing a wall to extend the bar area, and for a few moments watching Dots punch the wall, I thought demolition work may have started early.

Thanks to everyone who played this comp, the new players in Anthony, Aaron and Laura, you all contributed. To the returning players Dots and Scott, awesome to see you back (Scott’s 13 tons in the doubles comp is actually quite scary for the Div 1 players 😩).
